Guest guest
There must be some mechanism that causes an increase in E2 as I have seen this in nearly every case of side effects with finasteride. E2 then serves to suppress the HPTA and thus lower T production. For some reason the body stays stuck in this inbalanced state of elevated E2 and lowered T reducing the T to E2 ratio and hence the problems that go with that. According to the product information, side effects such as you mention, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and less sustainable erections. Since the drug works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, you would expect the testosterone levels to be normal even while taking the drug. Your levels are normal now and probably always have been normal. Since you have not taken Propecia in 5 years I do not see how it could be affecting your sexuality now. Although your total testosterone is normal, it is slightly below the mid- normal range. I suggest that you ask your doctor to prescribe one of the testosterone patches or the new gel. It will not hurt you and just might help. R. Don Gambrell. Guest guest
Hi, I'm glad you shared his reply. I hoped he would respond. My technical understanding is very limited and these alternative products are something I've not studied at all. ernestnolan > >Dear Dr. Gambrell, > > > >I was referred to your website by one of your > >patients. > > > >Im writing to you because, 5 years ago I took the hair > >loss drug propecia for 6 months and am still > >experiencing the side effects today. Guest guest
Why does your doctor not comment on the high E2 level in your test?.. this is the reason that your LH and particlarly your FSH is low... hence the watery ejaculate, and average test levels. Propecia must cause an imbalance which seems to hang around for some time after treatment! > >Dear Dr. Gambrell, > > > >I was referred to your website by one of your > >patients. > > > >Im writing to you because, 5 years ago I took the hair > >loss drug propecia for 6 months and am still > >experiencing the side effects today. Guest guest
Dr Gambrell's response doesn't seem to well thought out to me. Although T replacement is an option for you steve, it is a life long commitment, so it shouldn't be taken lightly. Guest guest
I guess I'm not positive its a life-long commitment if it is used short term. Generally I agree, but I had a friend who had low T due to high body fat. He got shots for a few months and lost weight, then went off the shots. His levels are now normal. But you are right, in most cases it probably is. At least until if or when they come up with a way to fix the underlying problems. Who knows what they'll find with the latest research into genetics, stem cells, etc. Mark > Dr Gambrell's response doesn't seem to well thought out to me. > Although T replacement is an option for you steve, it is a life long > commitment, so it shouldn't be taken lightly. > > Armyguy

Guest guest
Hi, No idea why. Best to send a note asking specifically what you want answers for. He's a pretty easy going guy and will probably give you the best answer available. ernestnolan > > >Dear Dr. Gambrell, > > > > > >I was referred to your website by one of your > > >patients. > > > > > >Im writing to you because, 5 years ago I took the hair > > >loss drug propecia for 6 months and am still > > >experiencing the side effects today. Guest guest
Hi, Dr. Gambrell will probably answer your specific concerns is you send him a note. No idea what his assumptions were in his reply. A short specific note will probably get a reply. ernestnolan > > >Dear Dr. Gambrell, > > > > > >I was referred to your website by one of your > > >patients. > > > > > >Im writing to you because, 5 years ago I took the hair > > >loss drug propecia for 6 months and am still > > >experiencing the side effects today.
