Guest guest
Couple things could be going on. 1) Your skin does not absorb the gel well. If that's the case, Androgel is not the best TRT option for you. Get your blood level checked again now that you are on 2 packets. Don't take the androgel for at least 12 hours prior to your blood test. Also, don't put androgel on the arm that they will draw blood from for a few days prior. 2) Have your estradiol checked. It might be high and this will cause all the positive effects of higher t to be for not. I have no expertise with prolactin levels, I believe some of the guys in this forum do so hopefully you will hear from some of them on that. If you find your skin is not absorbing the androgel, consider trying testim (but you may have the same problem with it), or eventually injecting depo testosterone. That is a sure fire way to get it into your system. Pellets also seem to be like a very viable option, just have to find a doctor that is capable of putting them in you. Don't give up, might take you a few months or even a year, but in the end you will be as good as new . Guest guest
Ned, it is a well known fact that antidepressants such as prozac and really almost all in that category, do indeed destroy the libido, and erection ability. I have been on antidepressants three times in the past 15 years and now clearly remember such effects. My advice, stop taking them right now, they are still in you for a half life of a couple weeks if I recall so do not expect and changes right away. My advice is purely from a libido and erection stance, I found my mental problems were solved quickly each time by stopping the antidepressants. Get you T tested, get a good compounding pharacy in your area to mix up a 10% Testosterone Gel, not a cream, that you can put 1/4 teaspoon on your inner arm from the wrist to the shoulder one a day or so. You don't need much and it is cheaper than the 5% stuff. best wishes norton

Guest guest
Oh yah, as Nort said: 3) Anti depresents do not help your situation hormonally. Very, very good chance you will be able to solve most of your mood problems by fixing your hormone situation. Anti D's can make it a lot worse and hinder your progress with the hormones. Testosterone can convert to this form estrogen. When it does it robs you of the effects of the testosterone. Definitely get tested for that. Seems androgel converts a lot - did for me, and I'm reading lots of folks here with the problem from it. Cutting pack on T can reduce the estrogen levels. And actually get you more result for the T with lower levels. It seems estrogen out competes testosterone for some of these receptor sites. As folks noted the depression meds frequently have profound sexual side effects. We here should all be very hesitant to advise you to give them up - not knowing how severe your condition is. That said however, lots of folks with low testosterone have been diagnosed with depression because of the way low T saps your energy, drive, and focus. I'd suggest talking with the Doc about 1. Getting estrogen tested and down. 2. Then stabilizing T levels and Free T levels (make sure they test for both) while keeping E levels down and the 3. Consider stopping the anti-depressants on a trial basis to see if the Testosterone carries the day for you.
