a " normal " libido covers a wide gamut - some guys on the high end of

normal probably have sex a bunch of times a week, while guys on the

low end probably have sex once or twice a month. Depends on age,

hormone levels, accessibility, etc. I seem to recall a study that

showed married couples having sex 2 point something times a week, but

there was also the article in Time? Newsweek? recently that showed

how married couples who are busy and stressed out w/kids, job, etc.

hardly ever have sex.

No, you don't have to walk around with a boner thinking about sex in

order to qualify as having a " normal " libido. Lots of teenage boys do

that, so I suppose it's normal for them - but by the time your

hormones have settled down I'd think that wanting to have sex a

couple times a week would be normal. Whoever said that most men (not

teenagers) masturebate 6.9 times a week was way off the mark. That's

not normal - that's more like hypersexual if you ask me.

Sounds like you've noted started the estrogen blocker yet. I'd wait

for that. From what I've read that'll probably be the ticket.

I have heard that bromocriptine or Dostinex may help with Libido. I

don't have it in front of me, but I think they are dopamine agonists,

i.e increase dopamine (I think this is what Deprenyl also

does...y is raving about Dep).

If someone can get access to free articles, there was a recent study:

Wittstock M, Benecke R, Dressler D.

Cabergoline can increase penile erections and libido.

Can anyone offer any sensible suggestions:

I have hypogonadism from haemochromotosis. I am taking testogel and it

is having a definite effect. Problem is that my wife has gone off sex

big time, as our physical relationship has been deteriorating for a few

years, and I should have taken steps sooner.

Has anyone any suggestions as to how I can re-kindle her interest in

sex again?

is right about openly discussing your situation with each other

as much as you can. After that, counseling.

It sounds to me like your wife's hormones are out of whack and that

she needs to check her bloodwork to find out why she has no libido.

She might want to check out this group:

Just my 2-cents worth.

I am taking testogel and it is having a definite effect.

Problem is that my wife has gone off sex big time, as our physical

relationship has been deteriorating for a few years.. Has anyone any

suggestions as to how I can re-kindle her interest in sex again?---

If she is anywhere near or past 40, her crashed libido is likely due

to menopausal depletion of ALL 3 hormones, estrogen, progesterone,

and androgens. I capitalize ALL because testosterone for women in

available off-label only, and the gyn community's current worthless

HRT protocol of estrogen and (far too much) progesterone in oral pill

form leaves out testosterone entirely and does not address libido

issues which are mostly linked to T levels in both sexes.

(Replacement hormones also are absolutely worthless, and dangerous,

when taken orally. They should be administered as a topical cream or

intravaginally. The oral route of far too much progesterone in the

WHI study is why the women subjects showed a very slight elevation in

risk of breast cancer)

I have a web site with information about this at:

Page 1 Inadequacies of Current Methods of HRT

http://infowoman.freewebpage.org/index.htm

Page 2 The Current GYN Protocol For HRT -

How To Opt For Safer, More Effective Treatment

If she feels as yucky as I did for nearly ten yrs on standard HRT (or

without any hormone replacement therapy) it is not surprising that

she has no interest in sex. Additionally she is likely to be

suffering the onset of diminishing bone density, encroaching risk of

heart disease, and all the other debilitating health hazards that you

guys on the forum are only too familiar with. We women need only a

miniscule amount of testosterone by comparison to our male

counterparts, but the lack of this vital hormone is just as damaging

to us as to any of you. I speak from experience.

Yours is an opposite but parallel situation to our own. I spent

years researching my own hormonal deficiencies with precious little

help from doctors, finally restored my crashed libido only to

confront my husband's ED that had been progressing unchecked during

this time. Fortunately he was open to and enthused about trying to

fix his own problems, and a year later our sex life is back to

normal. So there is no reason you and she cannot also rekindle the

flame.

If she is a younger woman, then I guess the best thing you can do is

re-open the lines of communication. Best of luck and hope some of

this info will help.

Eugene, one thing startled me in your post - you are taking one

quarter of an arimidex three times a week? Wow, everything I have

read, and have been told by various docs is that is WAY to much!

Arimidex is very powerful estrogen blocker, and I think you are

killing your libido by suppressing the estrogen conversion. Your

blood level of 17 is in the lower part of the normal range, strong

evidence of the effect of too much arimidex. If you read posts here,

you will see that even a quarter of one little pill a week, seven

days, is considered sufficient. Again,

you are taking too much arimidex, in my opinion.

This is true but some need more Arimidex I do 1mg every other day and the days

in between I do .5 mgs. He should stop and see if his morning wood starts up

again the go back on .25 but try doing it every 5 to 7 days.

Libido comes and goes for everyone. If you feel great for some period of time

then lose ineterst its realy a normal process I think. Also the more you do it

the more you can keep it up... May I dare say! :-)

eugenekeddy <eugenekeddy@...> wrote: I need some help with my

libido.

Brief history:

- 39-year-old male, 175 pounds.

- Primary hypogonadism due to one undescended testicle. T levels were

around 300 for most of my adult life.

- Began injecting T cyp summer 2006. 32 mg on Mondays and 44 mg on

Thursdays, IM into the thigh.

- Taking 1/4 mg Arimidex on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

- Injecting 200 IU HCG on Wednesdays and Sundays.

- Hypothyroid with various antibodies. I have this under control and

nearly optimized using Armour thyroid.

- Adrenal fatigue. I am treating this successfully with 27.5 mg of

hydrocortisone tablets per day.

- I take 50 mg of DHEA per day.

- I eat 1-2 teaspoons of Maca per day, but I am not consistent about it.

Labs:

- Total T is consistently in the range of 800-950

- Free T is usually just above the normal range

- E2 17 (ref 0-53 pg/mL). This is not the sensitive test.

- TSH 0.056 (ref 0.350 - 5.500 uIU/mL)

- Free T3 4.3 (ref 2.3 - 4.2 pg/mL)

- Free T4 1.15 (ref 0.61 - 1.76 ng/dL)

- I have never had my SHBG measured.

At various times in the past year, I have had a great libido, so I

know what it feels like. My main problem right now is interest - it's

like I just ate a huge buffet and my wife is offering me a tender,

delicious steak, but I'm just not very hungry. I just don't think

about sex very much.

And incidentally, even though I've had these great T levels for 9

months, I notice absolutely no changes to my muscle and fat

composition, which seems odd to me.

Is it true that things like cialis and viagra only help with

performance, not with desire?

I would appreciate any help that you guys could offer.

Thanks,

Eugene

Not true if you have low T and are on TRT losing your libido means something is

wrong not right. Most times it's high E2.
