Guest guest
Dan: I too have had this problem. Before testosterone I had a full head of hair. I know this causes male pattern baldness. Does anyone have a cure??? Will anything help? Guest guest
You guys could consider trying finasteride. It is a prescription drug that inhibits the conversion of t to dht. That would probably help slow down your loss. The drug is known as Propecia or Proscar. When used for hair loss many plans don't cover the costs because the use is seen as cosmetic. Guest guest
It should also be noted that finasteride has limited effectiveness, depending on the individual (indicating that there is a lot more to hair loss than just DHT, significant as it may be). Other adverse side effects of finasteride may include the lowering of libido (which seems to be a common reason why many of us went on TRT to begin with). More than anything else, hairloss is predetermined by your genetics. Nothing you can do about that. TRT (and its associated production of more DHT) can influence the rate of hair loss you might have, but in and of itself, does not cause hairloss per se. I am quite sure there are many in this group who have not experienced any hairloss, and that is most likely because their genetics are not dictating that they will. But if one is inclined genetically, even in the absence of TRT, you would most likely have lost that hair anyway, eventually. One needs to ask if the benefits of TRT outweigh the mere postponement of the inevitable. Personally, I'll proudly sport a chrome dome to be able to feel energized, more alive, and more masculine than I have felt in years. But, I can say that since I was already quite bald before TRT...maybe it's not as easy for others to decide. Cheers.../Dale > > Dan: > > > > I too have had this problem. Guest guest
I always had a very thick head of hair until I started using testosterone shots. I then lost quite a lot of hair on my head and began to grow much more hair on my back and shoulders. After switching to other forms of TRT and beginning to take Propecia, my bald spot filled in and the body hair growth slowed down somewhat. I still don't have as much hair as I did originally and I worry a little about possible side effects of finasteride. BTW since switching to HCG my hair seems a little thicker. My total T level is lower than when I was on Androgel but about the same as when I was using the Testoderm TTS patches. > Hello, > > Has anyone been noticing that you've been losing a lot more hair since > you've been on TRT? Guest guest
Thank you guys for responding to this. I just have a couple of questions for wheresmydl: Are you still taking Propecia and how long have you been taking it? You said that you worry about the side effects of finasteride but did you notice any effect on you? Thank you.
