Hi john g,

First the confusing part: It's a matter of unit conversion, also ranges differ

between labs and by test method used.

1st test, 1:30PM was 333 ng/dL (241-827). That's converted to ng/dL from the

ng/mL used in that lab report (3.33 ng/mL (2.41-8.27).

2nd test, 8:00AM T was 607 ng/dL (260-1000?) (Range is different from 1st

test, because this test was done by another lab.)

2nd test free T was 157 (50-210), These are either different units than age

tables, or a different type of laboratory test was used.

The chart you mention shows 12.3 mean free testosterone ages 25-35.

(I think the 12.3 is in pg/mL, not ng/dL) That's converted from 0.428 nmol/L

International Units. (I think your 8.8 number was misread from the wrong

column in the tables.)

Second, the even more confusing part: Why did the tests come back 1st 333

then 2nd 607? Time of day? that would account for some of the difference, but

I don't think as much as that (I could be wrong). How many days apart were

the tests done? Different labs were used. Were results from one of them

incorrect? It happens. You didn't start any TRT between tests, did you?

I think a doc who saw your 2nd test would not diagnose hypogonadism.

Your first postings mentioned concerns about small penis and testicles, plus

depression. Those don't necessarily indicate hypogonadism. If your problems

are not hormone-related, hormone therapy won't help them.
