It is very strong E blocker, forget about eating 200 pounds of broccolli or zinc, etc, my doctor tells me, this stuff can change your count very quickly. I started out taking 1/2 every other day but found it drove my E too low as I could not orgasm. Now I take 1/2 a pill every four or five days or so. norton
Guest guest
Dr. recommends .25mg every 3 days to start, then adjust the dosage accordingly > Hi folks > > My endo has decided to prescribe Arimidex for me. Guest guest
Dave, Wow. A wise endo. Assuming he follows through, ask him if we can put his name on our list here. I think I drove my E2 too low with it, down to 15pg/mL, on 1mg 2xweek (briefly up to 1mg 3xweek). So I'm leaning toward the " less is more " school. I think 0.5mg 1xweek or 0.25mg 2xweek is a good start. Might want to cut back a little when you see improvement. Bruce > Hi folks > > My endo has decided to prescribe Arimidex for me. Guest guest
That will work if you are not blind in one eye and can't see out of the other. :-). Phil bobbycfromep <clark.hypog@...> wrote: I found that sometimes those pill cutters crush too much. I used a razor blade from one of those paint scrapers (sharp blade on one side and safety edge on the other). The pieces hold together nicely and you don't lose much of the pill. My doc suggested quatering one tablet and using it. That insured a consistent dosage since the half life is about 5 days. I had some good improvements with it but I'm on 0.25 EOD for three weeks (my E2 was 91...ouch). Hope that helps and good luck..! Guest guest
Bobby have you had any bad fatigue using Arimidex. I went to low and put myself back a few months. Guest guest
Phil, So far I haven't had any adverse side-effects. I've noticed some good sexual improvements (erection quality and staying power has gotten better, climaxes happen a little easier) but then I've only been on this dosage for a little over two weeks. The only improvement I haven't seen that I got initially with the higher injections of T is my mental clarity. I'm struggling with it, not as much as before but it's causing some real trouble at home (I work out of my home office). When I started heavier injections my work ability really improved and then I got clobbered, most likely from the E2. I'm waiting to return to a more level state. I'm due for a lab test in another week or so and we'll see what we do. I'm sorry that you have had trouble. It has helped me be very careful about the dosing. So far I'm doing while on the low dose of Arimidex. Get well my friend... Bobby > > > > Hi folks > > > > > > > > My endo has decided to prescribe Arimidex for me. Higher body fat leads to higher E2, it seems to facilitate or lead to more aromotase that converts T to E2. If you're over weight long term weight reduction could probably help. Re: arimidex, I took .5mg every other day and my E2 dropped too low. I felt like shit. Everything ached, libido was dead, low energy. no ambition. After stopping and getting my E2 levels up again, I'm now working on ..25 mg every other day, and I'm going on three weeks now with that and quite happy with the results. I'll be doing lab work in a week or so and post results. My levels were at 46 before arimidex and dropped to 8 or lower after .5 mg every other day. My thinking is a 38 point drop on .5 mg, may mean I could get a 19 point drop on .25 mg for a level of about 27 to 30. Who knows? It may just mean a slower slide into it getting too low. But then some days off would seem to fix that. we'll see. - - - - Just another albino black sheep

Guest guest
Another tip is...don't buy cheap ones that have cutters made of plastic. :-} Too bad for the money those Arimidex tablets are so small. Once I quarter them it's about $1.75 a chip... I'd like to have a bit more weight for that price... > > >I found that sometimes those pill cutters crush too much. Guest guest
Well, technically I'm overweight. I'm 6 ft. around 230 lbs. However, I work out quite a bit and am more muscle than fat. My doc says my weight isn't an issue. I do feel I could stand to lose 10-15 lbs. Anyway, I'm going to suggest to my endo that we try .25mg every other day, as your E2 number is similar to mine. He mentioned a higher dose to me over the phone, I think .5 mg every day, but he admitted he needs to do more research. We'll see how it goes. Guest guest
Dave K, I also weigh 230# and am 66 yo. I have been taking Arimidex for about 2 months. I started this on my own without the benefit of knowing what my E2 was before hand. However, after being on 5 mg of AG for several years without any tangible results, I knew something was amiss. So I doubled my AG dosage and started on Armidex. I was very pleased when I finally got some blood work done. Here are my results: E2 26 pg/ml (up to 77) T 605 ng/dL (132-813 for 20-49 yo and 72-623 for over 50 yo) free T 2.8 ng/dL (0.88-2.7 for 20-39 and 0.56-1.9 for 60-80 yo) Other than my free T being a little high, these numbers seem to be OK. While I started out on the Armidex at a higher dose to jump- start things, I have settled in on 0.25 mg every other day. I was on this for several weeks when I got the above tests done. My E2 seems to be about right. I have noticed strength gains from the correct T. I can measure this by the amount of weights used in various exercises I do at a health club. I put on about 10# with all this, but I think I have traded muscle for fat, which I am told is 2.5 times the weight. I am also feeling much better, have more energy, don't want to fall asleep right after dinner, and have an improved sex drive. Guest guest
Hi Harry, I'm hoping getting my E2 down will help me at the gym. I haven't made any significant gains in months, and I've had trouble losing weight, though my weight has held steady at 230. The most obvious symptom (besides low sex drive) of my high E2 is the dull pain in my prostate. It actually gets worse if I've had a couple drinks. Alcohol increases estrogen levels so it all makes sense. I figure with a level of 49, taking .25mg every other day for a month or 2 might do the trick. That seems to be the consensus with the group. My T currently is 536, I'm hoping it jumps to 700 or so but we'll see. Thanks Dave K. > > > > > > > > > > >I was wondering if anyone experienced with this treatment could > > > >recommend a dosage. Guest guest
Dave the first time I took Arimidex we did .5 mgs 3 x per week and nothing happed. So we up it to .5 everyday and after a month I can down to 24 from 78. The thing we did wrong was to go back to 3x per week. You can do what we did but when it goes down back way off like to .5 once a week or if you can .25 2x / week. Phil dkrzyzek <dkrzyzek@...> wrote: Well, technically I'm overweight. I'm 6 ft. around 230 lbs. (I am starting to wonder if arimidex continues to reduce levels from what it finds or if it hits an equilibrium E2 level after time.) - - - - Just another albino black sheep
Guest guest
Tom If you are high and just going on Arimidex then take one half a pill everyday for 4 weeks. This is what I did I came down from 90 to 25 in 4 weeks. But the hard part is to not go to low I was doing 1/4 of a pill every 5 days and going to low. So I switched to Indolplex/DIM I can get by on one half a pill a day. http://www.ritecare.com/prodsheets/PHY-15336.html For me this works better then Arimidex yet on bad weeks I take both. Arimidex blocks E2 Indolplex/DIM converts E2 into good E. And it gives you back your morning wood I have not had morning wood in over 35 yrs. now it is there every morning. I am 61 and I use this as a gauge to keep from going to low when the wood stops I stop taking the Indoplex/DIM untill it comes back then I go back on it but less. Do you start with 1/2 pill? 1/4 pill? Whole pill? It seems I recall that you do some really minute amount like 1/4 of a 1 mg pill every 6 days or so. Is that correct? From my experience I'd suggest starting with a 1/2 pill for two or three days and then waiting about four days and doing a 1/4 tablet. In the beginning the higher levels drop faster with the larger dose and you'll feel better faster. The you're aiming for a maintenance level. About 1/4 tablet every four days is close for me. Though every so often I take a week off or so and start up again with a 1/4 tablet for two days. It's very much a feeling issue. for me urine flow is affected by higher E2 so I use that as my principle measure. Also when levels climb I get some breast pain and discomfort which means start up again. The arimidex prescription flyer says levels return to normal for women in 6 days of stopping. - - - - Just another albino black sheep

Everyday for four weeks would almost certainly crash levels too low in my opinion. A more slow and measured approach would be preferable I think. - - - - Just another albino black sheep
Guest guest
I am taking Anastrozole (the generic for Arimidex) Mon-Wed-Fri at 0.5mg. Mine are in capsule form. Guest guest
Which is better arimidex or novaldex?? I don't have any insurance. Oh by the way am new here but have been on HRT for about a year and a half. Was on testim 5mg q day. after getting fired from my job and losing my insurance I had just gotten a new script but that has run out a long time ago. My experience with it was nominal. Felt better for a short time but got very irritable, and was back to being depressed. This all started probably 15 years ago, lethargic, no motivation, no sex drive, which was good because I couldn't get an erection anyway. I would go to a doctor and they would dismiss me saying I was depressed and stick me on anti-depressants. These served the purpose of making me crazy. I would go back to the doctor and he would say give them time I would just stop on my own as I could see the psychosis worsening. About six years ago I went to see my doc and he said I was depressed, I went to see him because I could not wake up, I would go to sleep and wake up more tired than when I went to bed. I would go out to my car at work for lunch and sleep for four hours and wake up exhausted.I would fall asleep driving, one minute I would be fine tired but awake and the next it was like my brain just shut off. I stayed at a friends house one night and he said the next morning that I would stop breathing in my sleep. So when I went to the doctor, I guess I had had it with being dismissed. I said to him that I'm tired because I'm not sleeping he said can you guess your depressed I started screaming!!! I said your not listening to me I am not sleeping I go to sleep and wake up exhausted now get this he says well I don't want to order a $2500.00 test just to find out your depressed. I screamed at him if you don't start writing right now I am dragging your ass to the parking lot and when I'm done you won't be able to write anything for a very long time. He started writing. I had the sleep study and lo and behold I was not going past rem sleep. I was having to stay awake subconsciencely sp to breathe. I would stop breathing 142 times an hour, the attendant came in about two hours after I went to sleep and made me put a mask on, because she was worried I was going to die. So then I thought that this will be the fix I will have a personality change for the better, because I can sleep! Well I kept waiting and waiting but I kept getting more depressed This went on for another three years trying this vitamin or that energy drink, nothing. I work as a phlebotomist and one day I asked one of the lab techs if she would run a t total on me as part of a control. she did, this was in the evening, it came back low normal. something like just over the line of low. I said isn't this kinda low she said yeah but men make more t in the morning so I would have a higher level then. I figured she knew what she was talking about. then a year and a half ago I was working at a new place and my doc was one of the docs in the office. I asked him if we could do a whole hormone work up because I was having ED and no sex drive. Now I am not bragging but when I was younger I would have sex four and five times a day, sometimes with the same person most times not. So I knew what it was like to have a healthy sex drive to go from that to not even thinking about sex at all was confusing, I honestly thought that I had used up all my sex chits, like you get a certain number of heart beats in a lifetime I figured it probably was the same for sex. I think now that I was in very deep denial about the whole thing. I know I'm rambling, sorry. Ok so I get the results back and I had had a whole workup done cholesterol and everything so I was fasting and like 7:00 in the morning. the results were even worse than the evening test everything was fine except the t's they were all below the line. next we did LH FSH thyroid and other stuff I don't remember. they were all fine so we did another round of T's and same thing only this time it was more toward the afternoon and they were higher, still low but higher than the first ones. Ok so I make an app. with an endo he gives me the once over asking about kids and all, don't have em, don't want em, please keep yours on a leash, is my responce. he sets me up for an MRI, pitutary tumor, nothing clean as a slate. ok so he's asking me about steroids have I ever done them, because I am a big guy so my balls were working at least at some time. I said yeah I already knew that but he keeps talking down to me like I'm an idiot or something. I have a lot of muscle mass on my large frame, just genetics, when I was two I was picking up a large chair and saying look mommy. I have never done " steroids " I once popped a whole lot of Yohimbe root trying to get that aching need to get laid back, but all it did was make my balls bigger. I got a little hornier but not much. I mean this was to the point I hadn't masterbated in years. But I digress, so anyway I say no steroids and he gives me a look like yea sure! So I am not inclined to go see him anymore than I have to I don't like being called a liar! so he dosen't want me to do the injectables becuse they have too much peak and ebb. so he starts me on Androgel. I start having flu like symptoms about a week into taking this, I call him and his Med assistant calls me back and says that I need to make an appointment so I do but it is not for three weeks later. I am to stay on the Androgel and get blood work before I come in. I tell them that I am having an allergic reaction to the meds and they put me on hold? So I do what I am supposed to do except that one day I forget to put the androgel on and I feel great, I'm thinking it must have been the flu, but the next day I put it on and I feel like shit. An allergic reaction. I told her this on the phone but Apparently being in the medical field is not qualification enough to have an insight into your own body. But then again knowing what goes on in an office they were probably all thinking I was drug seeking. But any way I go to the appointmewnt and he says without even asking how I am you were having an allergic reaction here try this and walks out. He gave me a script for testim 5mg. I tried it and no reaction I called him and he said ok well if you want you can up the dose to a tube and a half q day. I am liking the feeling I am having sex again I want to have sex again I up the dose to two tubes a day and I felt like a teenager again. I go and have my blood done again and it is high not excedeingly just a little over the line. I get this call and he is yelling at me that I need to reduce the dose and I shouldn't up it without his permission. What am I two?? First he can't be bothered to call me when I am sick from somethin g he prescribed b ut he can call me because I feel great and the values are just a little over the line. I don't see him anymore, but because I can't afford it. Sorry it is so long but haven't had anybody to listen or read in a very long time. Thanks! Guest guest
You said that two tubes of Testim made you feel like a teenager again. How long after you increased the dose did it take for sexual function to return? Did sexual function ever return on 1 tube of Testim? > Which is better arimidex or novaldex??
