Guest guest
Looks to me like: TOO MANY MEDICATIONS. Drop everything except for testosterone pellets and possibly arimidex depending on your estradiol levels. Keep the vitamins. Give it a try. Within a couple of months, you will likely find that there is no more need, nore is there a place, for the anti depresents with proper hormone therapy. Armyguy P.S. Of course, I understand that these are serious drugs and everything should be done under doctors supervision. Point is though, hypogonadism is very VERY likely what caused you to need those psychiatric drugs in the first place and now that you are addressing the hypo properly, time to drop the rest of the drugs. > > Hi, > > > > What medications are you taking? > > > > ernestnolan > > Hi, here's the list: > > Hypogonadism, secondary: > Testosterone: implanted pellets, 1200 mg Started 4/5/04 (Dr. > Schwartz) > Arimidex: 1 mg 3 times/week as directed. Guest guest
Armyguy, Too right. I'm sure getting T & E2 managed will help all the conditions the meds are for. Hope to drop most or all of them, probably one at a time. I planned to start once I got my energy levels up, but it's looking more and more like I have to drop the meds to do that. Under doctor's supervision. Thanks, Bruce > > > Hi, > > > > > > What medications are you taking? > > > > > > ernestnolan > > > > Hi, here's the list: > > > > Hypogonadism, secondary: > > Testosterone: implanted pellets, 1200 mg Started 4/5/04 (Dr. > > Schwartz) > > Arimidex: 1 mg 3 times/week as directed. Guest guest
Hi, Didn't mean to give you hope that I could give you any help with this list. Just thought it was good to let others see the list and maybe make comments. ernestnolan > > Hi, > > > > What medications are you taking? > > > > ernestnolan > > Hi, here's the list: > > Hypogonadism, secondary: > Testosterone: implanted pellets, 1200 mg Started 4/5/04 (Dr. > Schwartz) > Arimidex: 1 mg 3 times/week as directed. Guest guest
Bruce, Did they tell you why you need 3 different meds for hypertension? I'm only on one... maybe that's an area where you could reduce the number of meds and possibly reduce the T complications? Mark
Guest guest
Bruce, I did a " drug holiday " (that's the offical term) about a year ago under doctor's supervision and found it to be helpful. He wouldn't let me go off the hypertension meds, but he took me off everything else. It has allowed more specific targeting for medications. And it may have eliminated some side-effects problems. Guest guest
Phil, Good info, thanks! I have to take a beta-blocker for tachycardia, orthostatic problems, arithmyas, etc, but my doc thinks these may be T related, so maybe I can get off that eventually. Mark > Hi for BP you guys should look at this drug it helps ED and does not cause it. > http://seniorhealth.about.com/cs/sex/a/cozaar.htm > Phil >
Guest guest
Armyguy, , ernestnolan, Mark, Phil and others- Many thanks for the comments. My doc ran my med list past his compounding pharmacy (Solutions Pharmacy in Chatanooga TN), they couldn't ascribe any particular med as interfering with TRT. That they know of. Regardless, I'm putting together a medication reduction plan. Psych meds will be tapered off slowly & carefully. Last time I stopped them suddenly (at a doctor's misdirection) I ended up in one of those places where they take away your shoelaces.
