Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I could be wrong, it has been years, but the only think i remember reading said that mushrooms had no food value. No calories, and I sure hope they are not bad for us cause I LIKE 'EM ;-) And I've eaten lots of them over the years. Most from the grocery store, but occasionally some sponge, and once variety that we identified from our book (since lost in divorces and moves) i don't remember the name but it tasted ok, and din't kill us. lol sorry I can't be more " real " help. c ya Kenn > Hi Rowena, Duncan, Kenn or anyone, > Just recently I began studying Food Combining and I noticed that some > of the material that I read DO NOT list mushrooms. > > Are mushrooms on a salad bad for one's health??? > > Thanks, > Sharon
Guest guest
Be certain that they are fresh and that you cook them well as mushrooms left at room temperature soon turn into a black stinking mush of wormlike parasites..This applies most certainly to those mushrooms that are psychodelic..and most " wild " mushrooms..I don't know if those parasites or worm larvae in some mushrooms can affect our health; but it would be good to find out from someone who has knowledge of these things..I have had the expereince of leaving " edible wild mushrooms " in a jar and finding them later after they had turned into a mass of worms..Yechcch Now I know why they were named " mush " rooms.. melville ;-)

Guest guest
Hi Duncan, Kenn, and Mel I want to thank you for responding to my question concerning mushrooms. I put mushrooms on just about all my salads and knowing that they have medicinal benefits and are used in anti-cancer programs makes me feel that much better. Thanks, Sharon Hi Sharon, > > Are mushrooms on a salad bad for one's health??? > Some mushrooms are medicinal becasue they contain the correct polysaccharides for immune system function etc; these are even used as part of anti-cancer programs. regards, Duncan Crow
