Guest guest
Hi list, Here is my take on digestive problems. Burping, discomfort after meals, bloating may be caused, among many other reasons, by insufficient digestive enzymes and or hypochloridria, or low stomach acid. These two are the most frequent causes. Get some digestive enzymes, (also known as pancreatic enzymes) and take two or three before the meals. If drinking lemon juice reduces the formation of gas, you may need Betaine Hydrochloride a remedy that acidifies the stomach so it properly digest proteins, release B-12, etc. Always take the Betaine AFTER the meals away from the enzymes. If drinking lemon juice does not reduce gas or discomfort, you may not need Betaine HCl. Start with one capsules and increase one every three days until you feel a slight burning feeling in the pit of the stomach. Back off one capsule (to the previous amount) This will be the amount of capsules you will need to take after each major meal. Vegetarians usually do well with just one-two caps, while;e heavy animal protein eaters may need more. Try to reduce or discontinue the Betaine HCl after three months. Any health food store will carry these products. Jarrow, Source Naturals, Enzymedica, are good suppliers. If the gas occurs immediately after the meals, it could be that you are swallowing too much air with your meals. If the discomfort occurs within one hour after the meal, it is an upper digestive system problem such as the stomach, duodenum or gall bladder and may have to do with carbohydrate or other food intolerance. Avoid specific suspect foods and observe. If the problem occurs hours after the meals, you may have a lower digestive problem, such as the lower intestines and/or colon. The latter gas is more rectal than oral and has an abhorrent smell. Oral gas (burping) does not smell putrid, unless you have low acid or an ulcer. Populating the lower intestine with probiotics is also a good idea as Duncan suggests and the Inulin is an excellent addition. And so on....... Regards Re: Chronic digestive problems Hi Ruth, During the 1990's, i had the most terrible bloating combined with constant burping. It was agonizing, as the burning feeling of hot lava in my throat was nearly unbearable whenever i did burp, but the bloating became worse if i didn't. There were episodes of this bloating lasting about a month for several years, until it became constant in about 1995. (The bloating was so severe that after one episode which started overnight, i was congratulated the following day for being pregnant by a neighbor who saw me nearly daily.) I went to many doctors and specialists, and had countless tests. Prescription drugs did not help for any length of time and proved useless within months. Doctors thought possible ovarian cancer to etc, etc. Finally i had surgery which also did not work. Eventually i just broke off with the doctors, as it became apparent they did not know what was wrong. Nearly every waking minute, i had the pressure and pain of the problem~ it was almost unbearable. I had begun to look into natural healing for several of our cats during this time, and saw miraculous things happen with them. But i didn't know where to start in healing myself. One day walking past our cabinet, i saw a bottle of aloe vera gel. Somewhere i had heard about aloe and digestion, and decided to try a bit. To my surprise, i felt a small relief. So i tried more, all the while making a face about the taste, i'm sure. Over the next year or so, i carried a small bottle of aloe vera juice with me every where i went. I would fill the bottle daily, so it was ready to go. Driving in the car, it was beside me, ready for a sip. Whenever the bloating stirred up, i drank more. During an average day, i probably drank a cup and half total. Gradually, my digestive system healed up greatly. Today, I only occasionally drink aloe, but always keep a large bottle in the frig. (We get the $10 gallon jug at Walmart, but Lily of the Desert is a better brand, as it is all natural.) My symptoms are probably 85%-90% better, as the bloating is better (still have some), and the burping just comes and goes at times. I generally never have the lava-like feeling, either. What is amazing is that all the money spent on doctor appointments, tests, prescriptions, and surgery did me *no* good at all! But a simple plant like Aloe Vera has been a great part of the answer. Perhaps your sister would experience healing as i have. It's not an overnight cure, but it worked so wonderfully over time for me. Essetially it's a probiotic approach, but probiotics are not ncessarily used directly; instead, the probiotic starter culture she already has in her gut is simply fed an adequate supply that happens to be lacking in the diet. This means the approach is actually correcting a deficiency of this bacteria food, inulin. Here's the page: http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/ Because her dysbiosis has gone on for years she will be treating candida in addition to general dysbiosis. Now she has to be on an anti-candida diet, which is essentially mainly nutritionally dense fiber and protein. This kind of diet is the healthiest for any human though, not just candida and diabetes cases. DuncanDuncan
Guest guest
Thanks Duncan for your reply...but I'm not sure that you answer my question. I would like to know if the cleanses Dr. recommends for this kind of problems are effective (sorry I don't have her books!) and if so where the best place to buy the required items. Perhaps you are implying that such a cleanse is not required? Is this the case? Are you indicating that she only needs to make dietary changes? I would like also to read the advice you provide about the dietary changes, and the probiotic program you suggest including how to restore the adequate amount of inulin on your site - But as far as I can see the link you provided to your site doesn't arrive at a page where these issues are discussed - unless I am just missing the right item. I have looked fairly thoroughly at the page you link to but cannot see anything about probiotics or inulin, or dealing with candida overgrowth thro' diet. Would you be so kind as to resend the link? Or point me to the right article, thanks very much. Guest guest
The cleanses are DEFINITELY needed no matter what, just like the parasite killing vitamins and supplements. The idea is that a body made stronger by the absence of parasites and poisons will be better able to withstand pretty much anything. Any of her books can be had through amazon.com for about 15 bucks shipped (if you don't mind second hand), and even only the list of sources for vitamins and supplements in the back of " the cure for all diseases " is worth far more than that. I would like to know if the cleanses Dr. recommends > for this kind of problems are effective Ruth, AFAIK Dr. didn't write about the restoration of a condition of bowel dysbiosis to normal gut ecology. Because dysbiosis is a huge source of toxin load 24/7, as well as being a precursor to candidiasis, Crohn's disease, colitis, IBS and leaky gut, it's very important to correct it. This requires feeding. Conversely, the SCD diet for example gives me serious pause because it actually prevents the crucial bowel fermentation. > Perhaps you are implying that such a cleanse is not required? Is this > the case? Are you indicating that she only needs to make dietary > changes? Cleanses do not correct the bacterial fluorish in the bowel because the specific food for them is still in short supply in the diet after the cleanse. (about 4/5 of it is missing) That being said, I'm a proponent of cleanses especially liver flushes. If nothing else, even if one doesn't know if it's done anything at all, parasite cleansing is cheap and it allows one to rule out a complicating or confounding factor. In absence of complaints that can be attributed to parasites, most of my clients do not do parasite cleanses and still get great results. That might be a regional thing, maybe reduced exposure to some problem parasites due to our temperate climate, and/or it could be that once the host bowel ecology is normalized the parasites don't do so well anyway. So, sure get her to do some parasite herbs as well as balancing bowel bacteria. The dietary changes, fom my experience, are the most important part of a wellness regime. I don't try to get rid of evey infectious organism; it's my goal to permanently make the client into a poor host, following Bechamp's " it's not the germ, it's the soil (biological terrain) " > I would like also to read the advice you provide about the dietary > changes, and the probiotic program you suggest including how to > restore the adequate amount of inulin on your site - But as far as I > can see the link you provided to your site doesn't arrive at a page > where these issues are discussed - unless I am just missing the > right item. Correcting bowel ecology is very important, and this is why I put about a week's reading on it on my website. One document in particular, the Comprehensive Scientific Review in particular, is not available anywhere else. Here is a direct link: http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/inulin_review.html There are more references here: http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/inulin_prebiotic_probiotic.html I don't sell inulin, but I do have testimonials such as " I have Crohn's and my bowel feels better after just ten days than it has for twelve years " - that kind of thing. Guest guest
Hi Ruth, I hope aloe vera helps her as it has me. So far, i have only partially followed Dr. 's system to get rid of parasites, etc. (Do plan to do a better job!) We do try to keep chemicals out of our home, and also not to ingest food or water with such. And I occasionally zap, although not as often as i should. In about 1980, i worked in Haiti for the summer and came home with hepatitis. This must have been really hard on my liver, as my skin and eyes turned yellow and the reflexology spot for liver on my foot would itch so much every night that it would keep me awake until massaging it on a metal corner of my bed. (My mother was a self-taught foot reflexologist, and i had never believed there was anything to it. Finally, i asked her what *that spot* on my foot was that kept me awake. After she told me it was the liver area, i knew that was no coincidence!) Years later, after i got married, i was closely and repeatedly exposed to some poisons, such as herbicides and pesticides. (Found this out later.) It was during this time that the bloating started. I believe that it is liver-related in my case. This is just a guess, as i haven't any hard proof of this yet. I think that my liver was not as strong as it should have been due to the hepatitis years earlier. I do plan to do a good gallbladder/liver cleanse as Dr. recommends, and see if that helps complete what the aloe vera started. Also, i believe that diarrhea as you described your sister having, can sometimes be gallbladder related. Not 100% sure as it's been awhile since i read some on this. Perhaps the gallbladder cleanse would help your sister, also. If her stomach is too sensitive for this yet, the aloe vera may be soothing and healing before trying it. Hope you are having a nice weekend:) Joy --- Ruth Ramos <ruth_rosita@...> wrote: > Hi Joy, > > Thanks a lot for answering to my post.
