Guest guest
For anyone in Australia, particularly the South West of WA who wants fresh walnuts, here is an interesting site both for the product and the history: http://aoi.com.au/acotanc/Papers/Fellows-1/Author-n-Text.htm Rowena
Guest guest
Hi Rowena, I wrote and asked how much they would charge for the " Green " Black Walnut Hulls, however they never responded..... Oh Well, back to the drawing board. >For anyone in Australia, particularly the South West of WA who wants fresh >walnuts, here is an interesting site both for the product and the history: >http://aoi.com.au/acotanc/Papers/Fellows-1/Author-n-Text.htm >Rowena
Guest guest
Me too. I shall phone them immediately I get off line. Maybe they get so little email they don't check their box! Do you know anyone who has made the tincture? I don't know whether one uses the whole thing with the nuts inside or takes the hulls off and just uses those. Or are they used before the nuts are ripe so that the question of what happens to the walnuts doesn't arise? It should be round about harvest time now. Guest guest
Okay, I just rang, and Graham Fellows sounds a lovely chap. As far as his own trees are concerned, he is sure we are a month too late for this season. However, after Easter he is going to look at some other trees he has 68 kilometers away, and if there are any suitable, he will do what he can for us. He says they have to be taken off the trees by hand at the right time to avoid any bruising, which would cause oxidation and would not be good for medicinal use. He wants us to be sure we know what we are doing, as it is very potent. They generally supply it to people suffereing from cancer or hepatitis. Very ancient medicine, he says. He wants me to call in a week to see what the position is with his other trees. He says there is a company in which makes it (I wonder whether these are from Percy Weston's trees?) but in the quantities it is made it often does not get as far as Western Australia. He says most of the tincture that is sold in Health Food Stores, eg there is one in Kalamunda he is aware of, comes from California. I think he said that sometimes that has suffered from oxidation of the fruit. Well, I know more now than I did five minutes ago! Guest guest
I've made the tincture. The exact directions are in the books. You use the whole walnuts while the shells are still mostly green, choosing ones with minimal cracks and ideally no " soft " (rotted) spots. You cover the walnuts in a nonmetal large container with high proof vodka or everclear - check book for exact " proofs " . Add a sprinkle of vitamin c, cover, and let sit for three days. Pour off the tincture, discard the walnuts. All there is to it. Joy Do you know anyone who has made the tincture? I don't know whether one uses the whole thing with the nuts inside or takes the hulls off and just uses those.
Guest guest
, what have you been using until now? Have you been using Tri-Plex made by the " Original Herb Company " of 24 London Drive, Bayswater, ? (Tel (03) 9762 3777). It contains Juglans nigra fruit hull (fresh green hulls of Californian black walnut), Artemesia absinthium leaf (wormwood) and Syzigium aromaticum flower bud (Clove) in Ethanol. It cost me $58.80 from the Health Food Store in Bunbury. Probably it would be an item one would have to order from most ordinary HF Stores. Before I got it, I happened to take up an offer of free consult with an iridologist in my own town, and in speaking with her about Dr she said her only problem ( " issue " - don't like that word, really) with Dr was using Artemesia absinthium instead of Artemesia chinensis, or maybe that should be annua. Chinese Wormwood, anyway, rather than the ordinary one. She was concerned that A. absinthium was a neurotoxin, as demonstrated by absinthe over-indulgers, and that while it might be safe for a while, long term use might be a problem. I bought a couple of bottles of Parex off her (Health World, Eagle Farm, Queensland) just to get started, until I could get hold of the Triplex. These are tablets containing Juglans nigra, Artemisia annua, Berberis vulgaris, Gentiana lutea, Citrus x paradisi, origanum, cinnamon and thyme oils, and tabletting aids. It doesn't seem to contain any cloves. I don't really like (or trust) tablets too much, and if I am doing Dr , would rather take what she says. Still, it got me started on something, anything. Still and all, as I can do the wormwood and clove bit myself, I don't reallywant to be spending nearly $60 a pop to get it ready mixed - though maybe their quantities would be more accurate or consistent than what I could produce. If I can't get hold of the green hulls to produce my own I'd like to track down just the Juglans nigra tincture, and hope it's correct that the Kalamunda HFS can order it in from . Guest guest
Rowena, Initially,I purchased the Cloves, Wormwood and Walnut Tincher from Clearwater Herbs http://www.clearwaterherbs.com/ Then I placed an order with Wilderness Family Naturals - http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/ for the Cloves, Wormwood and the [Green] Black Walnut hulls ground up into almost a fine powder. I then made my own Clove, and Wormwood Capsules and Black Walnut Tincher. Unfortunately the Black Walnut Tincher that I made with the Everclear DID NOT come out GREEN. Rather it came out BLACK. I have found it very hard to find a supplier for the GREEN Black Walnuts. Thanks, Re: Re: Black Walnut Source for tincture , what have you been using until now?
