Guest guest
I would like to thank all those who expressed concern over my recent fall. I had it checked out and it is just severe bruising. I live in a retirement village with 24 hour on site management, only I could not get to my cordless phone, which I should always have within arms length - I will in future. Management has a set of duplicate keys of each villa stored in a secure place in case of emergencies. It always seems embarassing to disturb people to come and pick you up off the floor - rumours of my being on a bender would abound in the village. I have been booked in for the radio frequency neurotomy at a major Brisbane hospital on March 18 and discharged the next morning if all is ok. Thank goodness I kept my private hospital insurance going into retirement, even though I am on a fixed income, rather than throw myself on the public system, with lengthy waiting periods. I knew there would be times like this as I continue to degenerate. Now, as OT. The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting is being held this weekend in a Hyatt Regency resort only ten minutes drive from my retirement village. The security is immense, in the wake of September 11. Police and the military are everywhere, and the two resorts involved have been " locked down " . I am hearing the sound of military jet fighters crisscrossing over my retirement village and helicopter patrols passing overhead. I even heard the distinctive " wup wup wup " of a Huey, a sound no old veteran will ever forget. Regards, Gordon
