Guest guest
Hi Everyone, It has been a long time since I posted. I have been having a really tough year 2000. I have a couple of questions to you all and hope you can help me. It started in January when I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my left arm (have no idea how it got there. All I know is that one morning I woke up and my hand and arm was blown up like a balloon). Went to my Rheumy and she sent me directly to the hospital for an ultra-sound of my arm and lymph nodes. The technician that did the ultra-sound asked if I hold my purse on my left shoulder. Said yes. She picked it up and said it was a lethal weapon. From carrying my purse there for practically 40 years I cut off the circulation in the vein and a huge blood clot formed. Into the hospital I went. My Rheumy took me off of all my Arthritis meds. Not a pretty picture, and I was treated for the clot. The arm went down until March when the same thing happened again and another weeks stay in the hospital. Now my questions. I have been on Coumadin to thin my blood to help prevent more clots. Has any one else had this problem? Now the worse thing is that I cannot take anything with aspirin (which we all know is in almost every NSAID). All I can take is one mtx per week (what a joke) and she put me on pain medication, Norvac, Darvocet, Percocet (sp?). Nothing is working. I don't know how long I will be on the Coumadin so I am looking for some answers hoping someone on the list has been through this or knows someone that has and can give some suggestions. All I do is sit in the house cause the pain meds don't last like my other A meds. I am right back to 1988 when I was first diagnosed. PAIN, PAIN, PAIN!!! I have been in bed for a week now cause we had to fly back to NJ for my father's funeral and the plane ride nearly did me in. And a month before my Dad's passing, my husband's father passed away and I was laid up for a couple of weeks after the plane ride. Now you all can see why I said the year 2000 has been a bummer for all of us. Hoping to hear from some of you with some suggestions. One thing is that my Dr. will not put me on Enbrel until it is FDA approved for PA. Thanks for listening and I didn't mean for this to be so long.
