Give Kids The World is now the number-one rated charity in Florida, and among the top 20 highest rated non-profits overall in America. The Orlando Sentinel has also selected Give Kids The World Village as one of the Top 100 Companies for Working Families for 2006. Please visit www.gktw.org for all the latest Village news. In a letter to Give Kids The World, Charity Navigator, America’s premier charity evaluator proclaimed, “We are proud to announce Give Kids The World has earned our 4-star rating for its ability to efficiently manage and grow its finances.” The statement went on to say, “Give Kids The World outperforms most charities in America in its efforts to operate in the most fiscally responsible way possible. This 'exceptional' designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Give Kids The World from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.” GKTW President, Pamela Landwirth declared, “Compassion, dedication, credibility, integrity and teamwork, these are the core values we live by every day at the Village. While there is always more to be done for the children and families we serve, it is an honor to be recognized as a social sector leader by Charity Navigator.” 2006 marks the fifth time in the last six years that the Village has earned Charity Navigator’s highest distinction. Give Kids The World serves families from all 50 states and over 50 nations, and the Village continues to prosper, and maintain a high level of service for its families despite global and economic fluctuations. “This consistency in your rating is an exceptional feat, especially given the economic challenges many charities have had to face in the last year,” Charity Navigator wrote. Last year our administrative and fundraising ratio, a key indicator of organizational performance and efficiency, dropped below 7 percent. America’s Charities, a federated fundraising organization, considers a ratio below 25 percent to be excellent. This means that over 93 cents of every dollar spent by the Village goes directly to the children and their families. Give Kids The World is celebrating its 20-year anniversary, highlighted by a property expansion project of the Village that will more than double its capacity of family villas from 96 to 196. This is a major step in achieving its mission to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world whose one wish is to visit Central Florida’s attractions. Currently GKTW has 130 employees, some 3500 volunteers filling over 1000 volunteer shifts each week, and partners with about 150 corporate heroes and 250 wish granting organizations. Perkins Family Restaurant, Procter & Gamble, SeaWorld Orlando, Universal Orlando, Wal-Mart and Walt Disney World are a few of the organization’s biggest supporters.
