Guest guest
Speaking of coping... How many of us have honestly asked relatives about psoriasis symptoms and PA? Done any research into the family tree to see if a relative was housebound or considered " not worth a plug nickel, lazy " from the chronic pain? Have you asked yourself if you are further stressing yourself by pretending that you don't hurt or hiding the PA? When you have a good day or days do you still try to tell yourself that the bad days were just in your imagination? You could write books to answer those few short questions. I try to think of them like I try to tackle housework. Do a little here and a little there. Small tasks add up eventually. Gill naps do help. Gone are the late late late movies on television. When you find yourself going to bed before nine on a Friday night and don't have anything special to get up early for on Saturday you know you are getting older. I " nap " Saturday evenings so I can get up and watch the Britcoms starting at 8pm. If I didn't I find myself waking up after seeing a few minutes and having missed the rest of them. I will be taping the 3 nights of Crufts that will be aired on Animal Planet starting Friday night. Last year the Bearded Collie took the pastural group but the Gundog won Crufts. So close, ahhh. I started grooming the bitch we never finished showing when my PA was so bad two years ago and Hubby had shoulder surgery. It felt good to be able to brush out the knots knowing back then I had trouble holding the brush much less getting it thru the mats of a long haired dog. She will go back into the ring on April Fools Day. Wonder if that is an omen? The weather here is great and it's time to work in the yard. I still split up the yardwork into small segments and plug away at it. last year I did well to hold onto the lawnmower and walk around the yard. Yesterday, (5 months on Enbrel) I found myself digging up weeds and picking up pinecones. I have got to the point where I wear a hat to keep the sun off so I don't burn since my scalp is not doing well with the psoriasis. A few minutes here and there of sun does still help the psoriasis but not hours. If you are wondering why medications take so long to start working maybe you can answer this... I have been told that psorasis can cycle thru the year and you can learn what your cycle is with stress and flares to muck up the cycling of the psoriasis. Can the " cycle " going from good to bad or bad to good be getting the credit/discredit whether medication works or doesn't work in our opinions? I can't decide. Thoughtfully, Pat B
