Morning All,

Happy St 's Day:

Well for near 60 Yrs. I was a sun worshipper, recommended for P. by my

Derms.

In the hospital treatments of crude coal tar , UV lights were used

daily..

I had two UV lamps at home also.

My experience with the sun and UV lamps is that you cannot get a

sun burn.. It will immediately break out even while you sitting in the

sun.

You have to tan the skin slowly and it does give good results..

However later the skin cancer fears came about.. My Derm., now

deceased , recommendation, " was to 6 of one and 1/2 dz. of the

other.

For me as I have skin that tans easily, was to continue sunning

myself and we (he) would deal with the other (skin cancer) if

and when it appeared.. Which it never has.. But never never burn my

skin.

It happened twice.. Once in the hospital the therapist burnt me with

the UV..

My treatment was immediately changed to the Cort creams, as any

more exposure to the sun would cause more and more P.

I am older now, and do fear the sun in abundance, because of the

ozone and sun rays being so much stronger than in my younger

years.

However, for me only, I still do sit in the sun, use a

sunscreen now, and take my chances.

However a sun burn is a NO , NO.. and light skinned people with P.

should be very careful in the sun.

Years ago treatment, I think called Black Boxes?? which was some

kind of sun/light rays and other treatments using lights etc. came

out and my Derm. would NOT recommend them, as they would cause

skin cancer much quicker than sunning oneself or UV lamps.

Boy !!! you folks are making me think, :) Seems I have forgotten

many of the treatments that did come out through my near 60 yrs.

with P.

Have a nice day, we are having decent days but will take many

more before the snow is all gone.

Alice
