Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but as far as your insurance goes there is

no way you are going to be able to hide prior treatment. Med history is the

biggest open book insurance companies have. It isn't hard to get your info

and it doesn''t take long. May I suggest you talk open and honestly to bc/bs

because you are going to need the meds sometime in the future because you

can't ignore the disease. Once they say no as a definite, then look to

private but take heed-private companies do not have to insure you, then can

be choosey only employers can't if you file for their coverage when hired.

If you don't sign right away and wait they can at that time say no as well.

I wish you luck but please don't give up.

Mathew - check on that Blue Cross policy - there is usually a maximum

" out-of-pocket " expense, which means that after you pay, say $1000 a year in

co-insurance (the 30% part), Blue Cross will then pay 100%. Not sure if it

applies here, but worth looking into.

Editors Note: <These days, Many companies are self insured (such as my husbsands

company( thank goodness) aand that means that Blue Cross merely

administers the plan= ie cuts the checks and sends out EOBS>

<Our plan covered 90% of what was considered a reasonable and customary

cost for the area (Mid Town Manhattan- go figure that one out?!)>
