Guest guest
, Bad as life gets I'm willing to bet that the only thing that gets you out of bed in the morning when things get tough is your kids. As parents we just have to cope-no sick days no time off- and somehow because their needs come before our own we overcome what frequently feels impossible just to get them breakfast or play a game. But I'm also willing to bet that when life seems at its most bleak its those same kids who bring a smile in and keep our grip on the real priorities in life. Nothing keeps me going like a hug from my five year old or the two year old fetching a tissue to wipe away the tears - they always want to know where the owie is. You are right I certainly wouldn't be here without my kids, they give me the reason to keep on fighting every day. Any embarassment they may feel at your appaerance now and even if this feels like the end of the world to them (which I doubt it does kids have an amazing ability to see thru the surface of things) won't damage them for life. Their experience of your illness will give them an added sense of independance and understanding that our value as human beings is not to be judged soley on physical appearance or aptitude. As a result of your condition they will become more rounded human beings. However painful it feels right now try and remember you are a strong woman and a good mother.
