Guest guest
I have just been reading Cornishpro's latest newsletter and in the summary it is stated :'FDA warning that painkiller Oxycontin can cause addiction'. I am currently taking Oxycontin Controlled Release and my rheumatologist said that it is as effective as morphine but less addictive. My pain levels at this time are quite severe and besides Oxycontin, I also have prescription high dosage codeine/paracetomol, plus a tricyclic antidepressant. This does concern me and I try to use the codein painkiller before resorting to Oxycontin but I have combined severe chest and spinal pain and, often the codeine will not cut it at all. I can only get 20 Oxycontin tablets at a time as it is a strictly controlled drug, with the pharmacy needing to report dispensing to the health authorities. I cannot get an immediate repeat, so I have to ration it out. It worries me to have to take such highly addictive drugs, but what can I do when the pain becomes intolerable.
