I'm wondering if there's anyone on the list that has had to take medication

for acid reflux disease along with their PA medication?

Four weeks ago I finally started taking 10 mg of MTX. This is on top of the

3000 mg of Sulfasalazine and the 75 mg of extended release Indomethecin I

already take daily. What's surprised me, even with the MTX, is I've never

had nausea. From what I've read, nausea seems to be the number one side

effect to all three of these medications.

For the record: While Sulfasalazine and Indomethacin haven't given me nausea

they also haven't offered me much pain relief over the last three years.

(I'm waiting for the MTX to kick in any day now.) I've had " minor

psoriasis-major pain " PA for at least five years.

I recently asked two of my doctors (an Ortho. surg. and Rhuemy) whether

Prevacid, or it's sister medicine Prilosec, might be having an effect on the

absorption of my medication during digestion (less acid-less breakdown).

They both said, " They wouldn't think so, but weren't positive " . So I looked

into it a little more.

In the information given by the makers of both Prevacid and Prilosec, they

mention that medication absorption CAN be effected when a certain gastric pH

factor is needed.

Does anyone know if having an altered pH factor in your stomach acid can

decrease the effectiveness or breakdown of arthritis drugs?

Has anyone ever been prescribed these medications to relieve nausea?

Sorry for asking so many questions. Jim
