HI all,

Last I talked to my doctor, a patient had to fail at least two treatments of

other drugs before they would be considered " eligible " by most insurance

companies to be approved for coverage on the Enbrel.

In addition to that, you may be denying yourself a few years of good

treatment on the methotrexate for instance. Remember- there are other

pills that take care of the side effects like the nausea, etc.... Another

very important thing to keep in mind is that you could end up like me-

pretty much having tried everything- and I mean everything over the last ten

years- and eventually one by one they all stop working or the side effects

become too overwhelming for the body to handle ( for instance

low blood counts that won't come back up).

In my opinion, it is good to try all reasonable treatments that your doctor

offers- rather than to demand skipping right to Enbrel. Hopefully this will

buy you some treatment time in the long run.
