the thumb did have swelling - she gave me prednisone and sulfasalazine for six

weeks and pronounced me well.

the thumb does seem to be well but now there's the toe and multiple other

lightly swollen fingers plus the tendinitis, etc.

she doesn't think i need any more DMARD though.

Thank you for supporting me. I do try to stand up to doctors but it always

I got the Hep A vaccine (I've had Hep B and fought it off, and am now immune

so didn't need the B vaccine). My doctor never mentioned to me about getting

vaccines for Hep A or Hep B, but I read on a website that getting it on top

of C could cause liver failure. I printed out the study results to back it

up and brought it in to my gastroenterologist. Apparently he didn't know how

bad the data was, because when I went for my A vaccine, they were calling all

these other patients for either A or B vaccines, too. It now seems their

policy is get all their people with C to have the vaccines. Seems like I

started a trend in the office.

Sanday asked: " Are you on the treatments for a year? Terry will only be for

6

months. How is that decided? " I don't think the amount of time to be on is

written in stone, but rather varies with individuals, side-effects, amount of

liver damage, etc. I'm supposed to go for one year, but that may change

according to my next viral load readings (PCR test). If my viral load isn't

down I'll have to reevaluate my treatment plan. I'll be finding out more

when I go for another check up and the PCR next month.

Good for YOU!! This proves my point that doctors are NOT gods! Altho, we'd

like them to be. It's great that the doctor is willing to receive info from

a patient.

Witch hazel is okay to use, from what I understand. And vodka is often

used

because it doesn't have an odor. If you use vodka, get 100 proof. If

you

can get Everclear, that's even better.

Tina,

The reason for using 100 proof vodka is that there is more alcohol and less

water in it. 80% has more aroma than 100 proof.

That's okay about the Dr. Leventhal thing......you know, this list is sooooo

helpful but sometimes very confusing too....especially when you're trying to

make up your mind about certain med's....one parent says " watch

out " ...another says it's a miracle drug for their child.....we all know by

now all kids are different and have different reactions.....it's true, some

med's have more serious side effects than others.

So what are we to do?? Trust our kid's doc, I guess, to do the right thing

and prescribe something " semi-safe " .

I've had the book for a few years. Very interesting. I never really stuck

getting results so I continued on with conventional aerobics, etc. I should

get it out again and reread it. Now that I'm not doing an hour's workout

I do remember that for the short time I did the exercises, I was able to go

on all the rides at the amusement and not get overly dizzy and nauseated.

Maybe it sounds silly, but even going on swings at the playground would start

making me feel oogy after only a minute. And that bothered me! (g) I felt I

must really be turning into an old lady if this bothers me! I'm gonna start

doing them again. Even if the only benefit I get is not getting dizzy on

swings and amusement park rides, it'll be worth it. One of my favorite

much as I used to. I used to see parents just standing around while the kids

Dawn,

How long did you do the five exercises? You said the only

thing you got was not being dizzy. It sounds like you where close in receiving

what the book talked about. I want to give it a try and i hope i can stick

with it. The exercises are easy but quess what doing them 4 days and my lower

stomach is so sore.but think about it kids don't get to dizzy on rides and

kids loved to spin around and around. If kids love it it must do them some

good and wouldnt hurt us grown up. I remember when i was a kid i could spin

around and around and loved it and would feel so so after wards. It came me

great energy I WOULD LAUGH AND LAUGH. Spinning around and around is becoming

fun again. I am satarting to enjoyed it.

Dawn,

I forgot to ask you did you also do the deep breathing exercise

in the book? The book stated that it was important to do at lease 3 times a

day and also to inhale when you got into the lift and exhale when you finish.

This breathing it stated was very important. I am so sore but i have also be

doing le bands exercise and itt also has a good stomach exercise.

Anyway i am going to do lifelift and the five rite and i have also ordered

book 2 on the ancient secret of the fountain of youth. Cant wait to get it

in. That first book was so interesting i could not put it down and i read it

over and over again.

Hi,

You know what, when I started doing the breathing exercises my stomach was so

sore I could barely sit up! I'm not kidding, but I counted this a blessing,

because obviously, I didn't have much muscle tone at the beginning.

Otherwise the muscles would not be making such a fuss over being used. I

kinda looked at it as their song of rejoicing, because they were finally

getting to do the job they were created for. And what is this, you may ask?

To help build strong backs, and to give us a reason to show off our bare

midriffs, of course! :)

Keep up the good work. It will get better soon. I found that it really

helps to do stretching exercises throughout the day. This seemed to help the

soreness move on.

Sincerely,

Tami

Hi Jill,

Yes, I have noticed the most recent missing two, #49 and #68. I don't know if

my server is rejecting it or what - but it did happen at night. I noticed a

reply to a message that I hadn't read before, and that's how I figured it out.

I went to my trash file, and noticed the missing #. I'm not

going to completely delete the digests now, until I get the next morning ones.

It was kind of hard to figure out what emails to read, but I just looked at the

dates, names and subject lines of the last 3 or so emails and compared them to

the web site posted messages, and then read till I got to the first couple of

ones on the next digest that I had received. Pain, but it

worked!

So, no, you aren't the only one it is happening to!

Regards,

K in Texas

Subject: Re: Pretty pictures of distillation

snip

FWIW, I just searched both books on the key string " hydro dist " and

" hydrodist " and found zip! Maybe a page reference? Maybe I need to get

Arctender's (sic) books.

snip

AFAIK, hydrodistillation is when the plant material is in water and is

heated thus to produce the steam distillate; that is, the steam is not piped

in from an external source but the whole thing is heated. If you check into

the production of rose essential oil (as opposed to absolute), this is the

method. Somewhere on the net I saw a picture of a whole battery of glass

still with rose material in them being heated for this method of

distillation.

I would like to say I'll go right over to the ref. materials that came

with my still and look this up for you- however I'm dog-tired at the moment.

the 3 methods are steam distillation (dry material, steam piped in from a

steam flask), the hydrodistillation as mentioned, and one where the plant

material is above or is in water but steam comes from an external source.

(can't remember what they call that 3rd one- like I say, I will look it up

but not tonite.

Hydro distillation.

Yes, that is water distillation, as used for rose and certain other

materials. See: Perfumer & Flavorist, vol. 15 p.11

I think the explantion was rather vague and cryptic. Neither are the

advantage spelled out by Arctander.

The only advantage I can see from the pictures, is that it is done

under vaccum. Most water distillation is done in the field and

optimized for large yields. In those flasks, the yield would be very

small indeed, and the nature of the extract dependent on the botanical

as explained in the article.

What is Raynaud's Phenomenon?

Raynaud's Phenomenon is a Disorder of the small blood

vessels that feed the skin. During an attack of

Raynaud's, these arteries contract briefly, limiting

blood flow. This is called a vasospasm. Deprived of

the blood's oxygen, the skin first turns white then

blue. The skin turns red as the arteries relax and

blood flows again. Extremities--hands and feet--are

most commonly affected, but Raynaud's can attack other

areas such as the nose and ears.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms include changes in skin color (white to blue

to red) and skin temperature (the affected area feels

cooler). Usually there is no pain, but it is common

for the affected area to feel numb or prickly, as if

it has fallen asleep.

What causes Raynaud's?

Doctors do not completely understand the cause of

Raynaud's, but they believe the body's blood vessels

overreact to cold.

When the body is exposed to cold, the hands and feet

lose heat rapidly. To conserve heat, the body reduces

the amount of blood flowing to these areas by

narrowing the small arteries that supply them with

blood. In persons with Raynaud's, these small blood

vessels overrespond to cold. For example, reaching

into a refrigerator may trigger an attack.

Cold temperatures are more likely to provoke an attack

when the individual is physically or emotionally

stressed. For some persons, exposure to cold is not

even necessary; stress alone causes vessels to narrow.

Who is affected?

Women between the ages of 15 and 50 are most often

affected, but anyone can have the problem. It is not

known for sure how many people suffer from these

symptoms, but Raynaud's is a common problem.

How is Raynaud's diagnosed?

An attack is usually temporary, so the doctor relies

on the patient's description to diagnose the problem.

The doctor will also determine whether the patient has

Raynaud's alone (called primary Raynaud's phenomenon)

or if another disease or some aspect of the patient's

lifestyle is causing the symptoms. If the problem is

caused by another disease or risk factor, the patient

is said to have secondary Raynaud's phenomenon.

Hello It is wonderful to have this venue to keep in touch I wanted to add a wonderful resource for courses. Every August in Ottawa Canada, for the past few years, a fabulous group called Brain Gym in Action sponsors presenters from around the globe. This year Svetlana is presenting Introduction to Birthing and Facial reflexes August 5-8, 2006. Carol Anne kson is also presenting Movement Exploration , this is a "must do" course for a full kinesthetic understanding of the reflexes and how they pertain to development.
