Hi all! i was wondering if anyone knows about whether

psoriasis & PA are hereditary or not. I joined your

group because my husband Ned has PA. He, like his late

father, has had excema, dermatitis & allergies all his

life. He first got psoriasis (a very mild case) on his

scalp in the mid 80s (when he was 50) but it didn't

persist. Then in 1992 he got Ross River Virus, a

mosqoito-borne virus which can have short-lived,

flu-like symptoms or be a long-term immunosuppresant

type illness which can lead to arthritis or PA. Ned

got PA & has pretty well been on prednisone and/or

sulfasalazine since. He's fine so long as he doesn't

physically exert himself beyond walking up & down our

stairs. Otherwise he pays the price by being

bed-ridden for days in pain. His brother also has

psoriasis of the scalp (more severe) but so far

nothing else. My fear is that one or more of our three

kids will get it. Our son (now 30) also had childhood

excema & is pretty allergic (PS all 3 generations have

asthma too). Hope to hear some good news!
