Guest guest
Contact your school district and ask them to help you figure out how to obtain health insurance for your child. Our school each fall sends us a form asking if the child has insurance and if not how to option in (NJ). We can not afford insurane on our own and his medience is really expensive. Anyone know what we can do? I am getting really worried about all of this. He can not start school without it. > > TIA >
Guest guest
Have you tried applying for social security for him, the income limit is much higher? If he qualifies for disability but but social security (b/c of income) you can try looking into what texas has for tefra or katie becket waivers, they are medacaid for disabled but no income limits but they have to meet an institutionalized level of care (not sure how severe your son is but worth a shot). If you apply for social security and qualify as disabled but are denied based on income you can then use that to apply for the waiver as you have to go through that anyway for the waiver. Ie i knew we made too much so just applied for the waiver so they sent my stuff to disability for qualification and i have to wait on that. My sister didnt know she made too much though so applied for social security (hers is not for an asd, her son has very severe food allergies that can also trigger his rare bronchial disease that i cant remember the name of, so he cant even go to a daycare easily). When she was denied based on income they told her to just take her denial (you have to be denied for income to apply for the waiver) and his disability status in to apply for the waiver as it is 2 less steps they will have to go through. basically i would try social security 1st On 6/14/10, I <mindylynn98@...> wrote: > My 12 year old son as Asperbergers and he is on Adderall XR and I had him on > the texas chips program but due to my husband making 43.25 too much a month > we got denied and it ends Aug 2nd. Guest guest
Found the following information about affording medicine at the ocd foundation. May be of use to you. Regards, melody What if I Can't Afford My Medicine? Drug companies give doctors free samples of some medicines. Doctors give these samples to patients who cannot afford the cost of the medicines. Most drug companies also have programs that help patients get these and other medicines free or at a reduced cost. For more information, visit: www.pparx.org or call 1-888-477-2669.
