Guest guest
Hi Janet Yes like any European City, Dublin was built on a FLAT! Yes you can walk, browse, see the sights and enjoy the Craig! No I am glad to say that I try and avoid Dublin at all costs! When I came here I was really looking for the quiet, rural, peaceful, tranquil LIFE, not rush hour traffic, had enough of that in England! With this Celtic Tiger in the Country at the moment, Dublin is getting crowded to say the least! Now my advice. Bring warm clothes. It is not as cold as your part of the world, but the cold here if different. It is a damp cold, rather than a dry cold, which will affect your arthritis! Try and PLAN what you want to do, see, as this is winter time and the Hotels around the Country are offering real CHEAP prices, so USE it! If you want to stay in Dublin fine, but just remember what you will observe in Dublin is NOT traditional. To capture the real Ireland, you have to head into the West. There are still parts that have been untouched by the Celtic Tiger, we reckon he never found his way down here, or failed to cross the river. I live in Tralee, the Capital of the Kingdom of Kerry. I have not located the King yet, but give me time! It is half an hour flying time from Dublin, if the wind is blowing from the west, five hours by Train and five and half hours by Bus/Coach! However the roads have recently crashed into the sea, the railway line, yes ONE line, is under repair and they had problems landing the plane last week due to Freezing Fog! Guess they had no de-icer? And they say Ireland is NOT a third world Country! Wot Tralee to Dublin is less than 200 miles, yet it might as well as be a different continent! No matter how much I moan, there is still something very special here, but for the life of me I do not know what? Love and God Bless Gillian
