Guest guest
Dwanna, I like to describe methotrexate as a med that works from the inside out. Last year when my shoulder felt like it had been torn off and put back on w/ superglue I thought it needed surgery or at least special exercises to help it. The metho worked from the inside to help me get control back and " fix " whatever was going on inside my shoulder. It works slowly to reverse the symptoms I have had but if I increase the dose any more I get to sick to function at work so I accept it working slowly as long as it works. There is Cyclosprin (sp?) that can be taken w/ metho to speed up the process but the main side effect is blood pressure and my pressure was already on a roller coaster from the pain so I passed on that option. The metho helped get the swelling down in my toes. Celebrex and other NSAIDs are anti-inflammatories and do just what they are. They fight inflammation which in turn helps lessen the pain somewhat. My personal theory is that the psoriasis is attacking the tendons in a way similar to P showing up on the skin. The P has gone underground to do it's dirty work IMO. Taking the metho actually fights the PA instead of just NSAIDs dealing w/ inflammation. Take care, Pat B
