Guest guest
Have you tried tar baths? They're really low tech, but they work sometimes. The tar solution I used is called Balnetar. Just pour a couple capfuls into a bath, and soak for about 20 minutes. It helps with the flaking. I understand your depression about the psoriasis. Sometimes I think that the psoriasis is more depressing than the arthritis. Guest guest
Well, I am currently in a major flare with the P. I had been on Soriatane and my kidneys started acting up, and my hair was coming out in clumps. Derm took me off it. Now next Wed. I am to go back on oral MTX (3 tablets a wk) plus folic acid. I have been on MTX before for about 3 yrs. I felt like crap all the timee...had no life. I am hopin ght folic acid will keep that down to a roar and I will not have any side effects this time. Before I didn't take the folic acid. If I start having problems again or if I can't cope with it, I will just take myself off the MTX. If my quality of life deminishes, I'm off it. I have been feeling so much better since being on EPO> I refuse to allow that to and not feel good. I've used alternative medicine and feel great. I've been in your shoes many times, yes, it gets depressing. But at the same time we have ro reach way down in ourselves and keep telling ourselves we CAN and WILL get through this. Yes, it bothers me too, but we can not help what life has dealt us. We just have to stand firm as a group to encourage and uplift the others. So hang in there...we all really do understand. I depend a lot on God to give me the strength and wisdom, courage, and peace that only He can give us. I use music to relax me...and take me away from the stress. I darken a room, put a calming CD on and just relax. It does help to refresh our body, but also our inner being. Guest guest
Hi Ro, It's Cassie. I also take Enbrel but it does not do much for the P. It works great on the PA. My MTX has been decreased to 7.5mg/week by mouth. My P has increased since the MTX was cut in half. I haven't found anything that works better for me than a higher dose of MTX for the P. When I first got all this, it covered me head to toe. Now I have some small places and one really aggrivating one is under my nose that has been there since this summer. I got some Lotrisone cream from my general MD today and hope it works. Cassie
Guest guest
There was quite a bit of activity on this topic recently so I copied excerpts from some of the responses and posted them to: /files/Therapies/Skin_Care.txt This is an example of how the extended tools available to us at our group site can be utilized. What I like best about these tools and features is that it puts the power (and the responsibility) of generating condensed & useful content in the hands of the members and does NOT require any additional passwords, software etc. This type of content is (for now) typically more easily accessible and pointed to than our message archives.
