Guest guest
Yes - I'm having a mild flare. Currently, I'm only on 25mg. of Vioxx/day. This last week, my 3rd toe has swelled, developed the classic " sausage " appearance, and is stiff, but is not red. I'm just wondering what kinds of things people do when a digit swells - ice it? use splints? go to the doctor to get an injection? At this point, the Vioxx helps with the pain, and I'm wrapping it tightly in a bandage. Any other suggestions? I also wanted to comment on the email from Margot about the way the pain and swelling comes and goes. Before I knew I had PA, I would joke with my husband about the " ball of pain " in my body. If it wasn't one thing hurting (lower back), it was another (heel, finger, knee.......) It is very frustrating trying to figure out what might have caused a flare. I've started keeping a detailed journal about activities, foods I eat, flares, emotions, etc. If anything, it really helps by giving me a forum - getting the anger and anxiety out of my system. Honestly though, I have found no solid connection between activities, food, and these frustrating flare-ups. I'm HOPING that by taking good care of myself - exercise, healthy foods, rest and FUN, the PA will be kept pretty much under control. I really believe all that stuff makes a difference. Just wanted you to know I relate.
