in Kansas,

I am having the same problem with my big toenail. At first, I thought it was

ingrown, but, now I don't think so. I'm going to go to the podiatrist and

see what they can do. My feet look horrible anyway, so I figure it couldn't

hurt.

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone is having pain in the first

digits of their fingers and does it feel like a

pinching or something nipping at them, curious .

Hope someone is having a good day. Also anyone

experiencing numbness in fingers .

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear Children:

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us as

an offering and a sacrafice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Ephesians 5: 1,2

I get PA in my toes in particularly and most painfully under my toe nails.

I have orthodics (spelling?), which have helped in reducing the pressures on

the toes and the toe nails.

But I know how painful it is...I've had to go up a size and I must always

wear square toed shoes....

Hi ;

I have had this with my toes long before I knew I had psorissis. I have

been 'popping' toenails since I was about 11 or 12. I know it sounds

horrible, but it is less pain than leaving them grow, or cutting them short

since with both of those you get infections. By popping them, you have a

bandaid on for about 3 days, and then the skin toughens enough to leave them

with out. I only have 3 nails that are 'normal' in that they don't dig in.

If you want to know how I pop them e-mail me directly as it will probably

grose everyone else out. Mitch

What do you have removed? The nail or the skin?

I'm having a real problem with my big toe. I have psoriases under it and I

have to cut it way back and then the nail grows into the skin and gets infected.

It's a constant battle. I hate to wear shoes, they just aggravate it more.

Re: [ ] toenail pain

I have had the sides of my big toenails removed and it has helped in a big

way.

Hi there

I have had PA for some time now and was interested to

read your email. About 25 yrs ago started having

trouble with my big toenails and it was much the same

situation for me as you. In the end about 3 years ago

after nearly losing my left toe a couple of times, I

was put into hospital and the doctor removed all nail

and nail bed from both big toes. Well talk about

bleed and the trouble I had wasn't funny. they said

it would be about 3 weeks to walk properly. Well it

actually took over a year to learn to walk properly

again. It was very agonising, maybe because of

addisons and hashimotos I don't know but your story

reminded me of it! Hope everything goes ok for you

Hi, Just wanted to add my two-cents on the toenail topic. I had the

complete nail removal job done twice before going to a podiatrist in

desperation. (Both removals done in hospital under local -ouch-

anesthetic by a general surgeon). The podiatrist was trained in UK,

but couldn't perform the procedure to remove the sides of the nail in

Canada. He showed the procedure to a family physician who performed

the procedure in his office - complete with an intern for the

audience!! Let me tell you there was absolutely no comparison between

the complete nail removals and the partial. I lived in agony the

first two times (please don't ask why I was persuaded to do it twice,

just following the doctor's recommendation) In any case the partial

removal was without the same level of pain and certainly there was

little discomfort for walking compared with the six months or more of

pain and hobbling with the complete removals. The big difference is

that you still have a nail which protects the nail bed against socks

and shoes. The nail, which had both sides partially removed, is only a

bit narrower than the original. The great thing is that for the past

13 years I have not had the pain from the toenail curling under and it

doesn't look bad either. The podiatrist said that the complete

removals were " barbaric " - I have to agree! Take care, Lorraine
