Guest guest
Hi Everyone: My name is Ann and I am 57 years old with a recent diagnosis of PA. I too have little to no P, but have experienced a great deal of joint pain in my knees. During last summer all of a sudden without cause I lost my nail on my left big toe. At the time I had no clue it was because I was developing or had PA. The only thing I did was wait a little while until it grew to a point so I could put a false nail on to hide the ugly look. My new nail grew back perfectly fine and have not had any other nail involvement as of yet. I too am on 10mg of Prednisone and 25mg of Vioxx per day. Anyone out there have any other experiences that could help us with the nail involvement????? Thanks, Ann

Guest guest
Hi , Nail lifting I have. I find that painting my nails actually helps 1. to hide and 2. to prevent further lifting. I also keep my nails very short, not " I have a nail biting habit " short, but clean. The more I try to keep them healthy and clean, the better they look. Sorry but I haven't found anything that helps directly to stop it. Take care, --- Jng127@... wrote: > Hi everyone, and the nails on my > right pinky finger and > left big toe have detached from the nail beds. I > have read that this is part > of PA. Interestingly enough, my Derm said it was a " fungus " and my RD just ignores it. If it were not for the info I get on her & onine, I would have no idea that this was related to the P & PA. Guest guest
Hello Betty, Vanity or not--I'd like to put on a pair of open toed shoes again. I'm going to try the peroxide and ointment. Thanks, Jeanne in Idaho
Guest guest
I've had acrylic nails for years. They used to try to blame my lifting on fungus. I've had several Docs say it was fungua, also. But, I've finally convinced everyone that it's psoriasis. The acrylic nails keep my nails from tweeking. My toenails are ugly. Becky Re: [ ] Nail Involvement Have had acrylic nails for 15 yrs because I used to pick or bite them I occasionally get the fungus and would get it cleared up and new nail put on. Never thought about psoriasis. This has happened to about 7 nails, and I just get them cleared up with peroxide and antibiotic oint. Just got them done this morning and they look fine. Nothing like vanity at 67. Guest guest
- I have had all the symptons you've describe and they started at the same age (I'm now 29). I have to say that at the start my toes were so swollen and hot that I could hardly walk....now I almost never have a problem with the toes. My nails are all yellow, deformed and in some instances coming away from the nail bed...but I must point out that when my general PA conditions settle down the nails settle down. I have found no way of fixing them and I think for your own piece of mind nail polish is the answer!!!
