Re: School/Play Dates/Social SKills

Hello! I live in Broward County, but I believe they must have similar programs

in Miami-Dade Public Schools. Here, we have an Autism Specialist who works with

us, and she has been instrumental in helping my husband and I with our son. She

is the only person in the District assigned to both Autism and Behavior

Disorders, and, still, she has been to the school 3 times since January to

observe our son and meet with us.

I went on the MDCPS website, and they have a page dedicated to ASD

(http://ese.dadeschools.net/autism/index.htm) I'd contact the Instructional

Director and see if she has any schools/programs she'd recommend... I'm

imagining she would know.

As for the play date, my son is only 6, but, if yours is okay with playing with

younger kids, I'd be happy to set up a play date. My son loves video and

computer games, Legos, Star Wars, cars and trains. He's also very into learning

about the systems of the human body and his favorite TV show (aside from

anything on the Cartoon Network) is America's Funniest Home Videos.
