Guest guest
I was just wondering does anyone seek out psychiatric help/ therapy for their Aspie... When we were diagnosed almost 2 years ago we left the clinic at children's hospital with a packet of information. That's it, no return appointment, no where really to turn for help. I work for her pediatrician's office and they said I could return back to the children's hospital developmental clinic, but they did not know specifically of any other clinic that might be helpful. Honestly I may need more help than my child in just trying to understand what she can and can not control, and how to handle certain situations. Other than my current boyfriend I have NO support. I was told from the developmental clinic they would pass my name and number to a local support group but I have not heard from anyone. My daughter's dad, he is a very good dad, but he thinks most of this is a phase she will grow out of " after all he was like that too and he grew out of it " . No one in my family has even bothered to google Asperger's and then to top it all off my mom has told me that I have cause whatever chemical imbalance she has going on when I got remarried and moved her 30 miles from where we were living. This has just been an extremely hard road to travel down alone. Thankfully my boyfriend seems to want to help, but he just doesn't seem to understand the guilt that I carry when I don't have enough patience to deal with what is going on. Thanks for any help or encouragement you can offer. Cheryl
