Guest guest
and others, Last year I read " Simple Abundance " by Ban-Breathnad. It is a book of daily essays that teach you to learn to SEEK abundance in your life despite your burdens. This has done much to keep me cheerful. One of the tools she suggests is a " Gratefulness Journal " . You simply write down 5 things you are grateful for at the end of each day. On my worst days, they are the basics...my home, my sons, my husband & my pets. Some days it's the little things...got a close parking spot at the mall, they had a dress I wanted on sale in my size, the Milky Way bar I treated myself to, etc. This is a VERY powerful activity. I suggest it to all--especially you guys! Most men don't feel comfortable expressing their emotions as much as women. This is a way you can do it privately to yourself ( & God if you believe). I recommend giving it a try! in Virginia

What I like most about her book is that it teaches us to concentrate on the positive things in our life instead of dwelling on the negative. That's an area I need to do some serious work because I get to grieving over the things I can't do when I feel bummy. > You simply write down 5 things you > are grateful for at the end of each day. Wouldn't it be great to share some of those things with the list? I know it would encourage me to see what others find to appreciate in their life and I'd be willing to share mine. > On my worst days, they are the > basics...my home, my sons, my husband & my pets. You just made the start for us. Sunday I actually had my Bible lesson prepared for class; my voice was clear enough to reach all the notes instead of sounding like a hoarse frog; my hubby took me to lunch; some of the trees have buds that are trying swell in anticipation of spring; a hawk was soaring and whistling in the sky over the yard when we returned home. Earlier in the weekend I found one bright red bloom on the fire bush, one pink bloom on an azalea, and several blooms on the narcissus. The cardinals, blue jays, wrens, chickadees, titmice, blue birds were singing while the little sparrows gobbled seeds from the feeders. One of our son's cats, Mr. Greyhouse, nuzzled my head from the porch while I weeded the flower bed beside it (he's such a lover boy, especially when he wants a treat). > This is a VERY powerful activity. I suggest it to all--especially you guys! I second that motion!! Patty B in the Pineywoods of East Texas
