Guest guest
Finally got to Dr., and for those who were part of many correspondences, yes, my problem with my feet is diabetic neuropathy. Terrible drug choices: Elavil (anti-depressant) or Neurontin (anti-convulsant). I chose the neurontin. Anybody know about that? He has also switched me to Remicade, and I have my first infusion in a couple of weeks. What should I expect? Stopped Arava, back on MTX, which is fine. We discussed Enibrel, but due to shortage, went with Remicade. He says I need surgery on a toe, which has become a " hammer toe " . I will wait on that. Love to hear from anyone about Neurontin and Remicade.

I guess I should look up Remicade, see what you have found out. I don't know that it will stop me, since options are getting slim. But, at least I will know what I am in for. When do you start? I worked daycare in college and I work in a nursing care now (Talked about going from one extreme to the other *g*) My rhumy and I discussed Remicade and Kineret at my last visit. From everything she gave me, the Remicade had a lot more side effects than the Kineret. Has anyone been on both? If so, which was lighter on side effects? I'm on MTX now and weaning off the prenisone. THANK THE LORD! I've been on it for a year and really, really, really want off. Best thing I've found for my knees, the most effected by the PA, is doing the exercises they gave me at physical therapy years ago (I've been through 6 rounds of PT before the PA was finally diagnosed.) Smile, Becky...very happy chicken today...finally got a scale that weighs accurately...and I've lost 17 lbs since Feb. Happy Easter everyone!!! Guest guest
Toadessa--I should be starting the Remicade in a couple of weeks, maybe sooner. Rheumy said the application for it takes about 2 weeks so I should know this Friday. I could start as early as the following Monday as the rheumy is only in this office on Mondays. Other rheumys are there other days of the week but I think it will be when my rheumy is there as she likes to handle her own patients rather than letting her partners take over. Although I don't like what I have read about Remicade, I am not going to let it stop me as my options are running out also. I can't take any of the NSAIDS including celebrex or vioxx. MTX helps my skin but not the PA. I wish you good luck and hope Remicade gives you lots of relief without any side effects. I wish the same for myself also. Guest guest
I'm sorry to hear that you have this.. My mother also has this terrible diabetic neuropathy... She has it in her hands, feet, and legs.. It bothers me so much how much pain she is in everyday.. Its like she will always act strong towards us like nothing is bothering her, but i know she is hurting very bad.. She said it feels like a severe " pinching feeling " 24 hours a day.. I just wish the pain could be takin away from her.... but there are not too many drugs that help this... If they do then they are hurting some other organs in the process.. She was on the highest dose of neurontin and that barely helped... Accupuncture helped her alot for a few hours.. But then the pain comes back again..She's been having some success with Amitryptilin (spelling may be off) though .. Every little bit helps.. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Message: 3 Date: Sat, 30 Mar 2002 11:19:30 EST From: Toadessa7@... Guest guest
Where are your reading about Remicade? I found their web site but I've not found where they say anything about side affects or anything. I've found very little information on this drug.
