Sharon,

I went years with every manicurists I had and even Doctors telling my that the

lifting in my nails was from a fungus. Know I know it's classic Psoriasis in

the nail bed.

I to have acrylic nails. It controls how they grow so the don't get deformed.

Good luck with your nails.

[ ] Shoes, sore toes and toenails

I don't

have a problem with fingernails or toenails yet ..but

last year I did have what the doctor thought was a

fungus of one of my big toenails. He gave me some

lamisil cream to put on a cotton wad and push up under

it to see if that helped. It did help as the nail had

lifted in the corner a little bit.

I use to have acry nails - for years . . . until I

learned that everytime you hit your nail you're likely

to lose the whole nail. Happened to me 4 times before

I decided to give them up. I do paint my " not so

beautiful " but less painful nails. Nail polish has

kept them from deforming. I NEVER let my nails go

without some type of protection. I can see them

lifting from the nail bed before my eyes if I do that.

I also found that it was more likely that a fungus

would occur with the acry. Because your nails are

separating from the bed and the fact they cannot

breath, a fungus w/psoriasis under the nail is just

toooo painful.

I am very very careful with my nails not to get a

fungus. I make sure my manicurist takes every

precaution and I remind her if she forgets a step to

prevent it. I watch her sterilize her tools too. I am

glad to hear that the acrylic and polish help prevent

the nails from deforming! My toes to look at them

look completely normal, no deformities of the joints

at all; but my hands are a different story. I will

take a picture tomorrow after I get my nails done with

my digital camera and see if I can post it for yall to

see what my hands look like. I think they look good

now compared to the way they looked before I started

the Prednisone. My ring finger on the right hand was

really swollen and red. Now it looks better.
