Guest guest
Alot of you guys have it much worse then I do.... But I always feel like crap.... ESPECIALLY in the morning.... I hate the early morning so much...... I feel like i am glued to my bed and i am so drop dead tired.... Its impossible to get up then..... But then when I have a few cups of green tea (caffienated) in the late morning and early afternoon I feel good again.... I guess thats my small window of oppurtunity of feeling " good " ..... From about 1pm to 5pm.... Then my body starts slowing down again as the sun goes down and stuff and the pains return..... I must be such a sissy though , Because you guys are having all these injections , replacements , and everything and i'm not even on any medications... So i dont understand this disease... My pains arent even too bad... Even in the morning.... But its the extreme tiredness and brain foggy like feeling in the morning that ruins the rest of my day... Like this morning the Fed Ex guy woke me up at 10am and I didnt know where the heck I was... I think i was still dreaming when i answered the door.... Anybody know how to compat this brain foggy feeling? I'm sick of feeling like i'm in outer space all of the time.. I was never like this before.... Guest guest
Hiya NewJersey - I feel pretty bad in the a.m. too - some days after my shower I even crawl back into bed for five minutes to get the energy to get dressed. But then, I have to get up at 6 a.m. for work, so no wonder I'm groggy? Anyhow, I know what you mean about the " window " - I usually feel best from 10 a.m. to about 3 p.m. - then the tiredness sets in and I want to go home, but I have to stay until about 5-5:30. I have a 15 mile commute so after 1/2 an hour in the car I usually all but crawl up my front steps. Anyway - you said you are on no medications so you think you shouldn't complain, but maybe that's exactly what is wrong. At least maybe an anti-inflamatory would make you feel a little less like crap? I take Vioxx at night and when I had to go off of it for surgery I thought I'd die in the mornings! I don't have the brain fog as much as others do on here, but it felt like when I got out of bed that my feet would splinter into a million pieces. I think it might be a good idea to talk to your rheumy about some NSAIDS or other anti-inflamatories to make your mornings easier. If you don't have a rheumy, an even better idea might be to get one. Well, 8 a.m. now - I should hit my " peak " (low as that might be!) in an hour or two - hope today is painfree for all,
Guest guest
I don't know your name, so hi newjersey23 I think you are being a bit hard on yourself. Ever heard the words 'judge not'?. That applies to our attitude toward ourselves too. Maybe you need to talk to your doctor about getting on some kind of medication, especially something to improve the quality of your sleep. I can't help but wonder if you might have fibromyalgia as well as PA because much of your description of your day fits this. Morning and evenings are always awful. Midday is better because by then you've reached a peak in terms of energy and motivation. You are probably so tired when you get up in the morning because you are not reaching the deep restorative sleep you need for your body to repair itself. Why don't you talk to your doctor about a low dose of Amitriptyline, also known as Elavil? It takes a few weeks before you notice any improvement, but once you start sleeping better the difference in the way you feel when you go through your day can be quite dramatic. It's interesting that you use the term 'brain fog'. Those of us who suffer from Fibromyalgia refer to it as 'fibrofog'. Hope this helps. I was never like this before.... Hi- I think we all know exactly how you feel. I think the " brain fog " (a very good description) and terrible endless tiredness are really some of the nastiest things about this disease. I can't say it would work the same for you, but I found to my great joy that when I started on antibiotic therapy, after a couple of months the first things that made me realize it was working were that the brain fog started to lift, I felt clear in my head, and that horrible exhausted feeling began to leave, for longer and longer periods of time. Many people report this. Those things began to happen for me before I saw any real difference in my joints. After about six or eight months, the brain fog and exhaustion were gone. Now I feel my very best in the morning. If I have a hard day, my knees and ankle which have permanent damage from the many years of PA get tired and sore, but by morning I feel good again. It's hard now even to believe my memory, that there were days two years ago when I woke up, thought about how terrible it was going to be to try to bend to put on my socks, and just gave up and stayed in bed! I haven't used MTX or the other new drugs, so I'm curious to know how others' experience with those drugs compares to mine with the antibiotic. Did the brain fog and exhaustion lift first with them too? Or did joints begin to get better first? I'm sure you can find a treatment that helps you- don't give up!! Guest guest
Hi newjersey - It sure sounds like you have fibromylgia big time. Maybe another trip to the rheumy or try a different one. Or get on the net and research your options. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
I have PA and fibromyalgia, and it sounds like you may have FM too. I feel I am more disabled because of FM than PA, and I've already had both knees replaced, and need a couple of new ankles. The extreme fatigue and muscle pain is very debilitating. Maybe you feel so bad because you aren't being treated for it. I went for many years without a diagnoses, and felt like you do. I'm so much better now that I am being treated. Do you need some links to web sites that explain FM? I have a big list of links if you want to read about it. a [ ] Re: feeling like CRAP Alot of you guys have it much worse then I do....
