Guest guest
I think my 11 yod who has OCD and GAD also has Aspergers. Just really feels like a Piece of the puzzle is missing or something. She just doesn't " get " some many things, like shows on tv or movies, in conversations. She takes things literally and doesn't can't really seem to joke around or take them. She has a hard time understanding others feelings and what they want or how they feel, especially if it is not of interest to her. Lacks coordination. Dresses sloppily, she also has sensory issues and wears clothes that are baggy and too big. Will wear them for days in a row. Very hard to get along with and stubborn. Socially and emotionally inappropriate behavior. Obsessed with the show MASH, will watch the same ones over and over again. Her therapist and I both at the same time thought about it. So she was going to her dr. a specialist this past week so I talked to him about it and he says he has seen some of it also. So he gave us a few copies of a questionaire to fill out. So we will have to wait and see what he decides. In the past she also goes through periods of time she has rages.
Guest guest
I think it is AS too. Here is why. Kids with OCD are bothered by their obessions. They are distrubed by them. Your daughter enjoys hear obsession with MASH. Also AS kids have a trait that is called perservation of sameness. They don't want to change things. My daughter had a meltdown a few nights ago because we were out of DOVE soap. This was perservation of sameness. Her anxiety was every bit as severe as OCD. Guest guest
, my 12 year old is being evaluated for AS now. Some of the things you mentioned sound like her....the sloppy dressing, the lack of coordination, the obsession with one thing (at the moment the Warriors series of books. It is all she talks about)....I had not connected the sloppy dressing to AS, but it does make sense.
