Guest guest
Good Morning Everyone, Or should I say 'Good 3AM'? Yesterday was my first dose of MTX. I received 15mg about 4:30PM. By 8PM I was on the couch feeling miserable. But it wasn't stomach upset or diarrhea. Most of the arthritic joints seem to be swollen, warm and very tender. The pain from the ankles radiates up through the calf and my elbows won't straighten out. The pain is only about a 4 or 5 but I was just recovering from about 10 days of being in bed. Have others experienced this reaction to the methotrexate? Can I hope that it will only last for 2 days as most other reactions seem to last? Guest guest
Hello everyone, No, I haven't told my RD about my reaction to the MTX. I am getting it by injection in her office so I will wait until next week when I'm scheduled for the next injection to explain what happened. I noticed someone else posted they are having (or were having, I'm not sure) sacro iliac problems. Interesting (maybe coincidence) I too have been diagnosed recently with sacro iliac problems. Wonder if it's because we occasionally walk lopsided causing the back to go out? I'm feeling better this morning and hope to actually get out of the house today for more than a doctor's visit. Hoping all of you are feeling better today also. Jeanne in Idaho
Guest guest
I know this may sound like a funny question, but I have been on mtx for 1 1/2yrs. and take folic acid daily to help reduce stomach problems which it has but like in the last month have developed a rash on my face and it has spread to like sores around my mouth. I take 17.5mg(the max). My question is when they say side effect cold sores....is it inside or outside of the mouth? thanks . a Re: [ ] Handling side effects of Methotrexate > hi jeanne > > sorry to hear you are not feeling well. > i have been on mtx for about 2 mths now. i take 7.5mg a week (pills) do get an injection? i have had no help so far from this? but i hear it takes awhile to kick in? the side effects i have are cold sores around my mouth which are really annoying. and mild nausea sometimes. i will also starting enbrel on tuesday. > have you told your dr. about your reation? > > i hope it gets better for you > ro > in ny > > > >
Guest guest
I think the inflammation of the sacral iliac joints is another form of the PA. I have had my SI joints injected before, it didn't seem to help much. I am plagued with pain there frequently. Just one more thing to add to the list. Guest guest
My RD told me MTX causes horrible mouth sores--and of course I got them. They were mostly in my mouth but at times they would be on the outside like a pimple or small cold sore.
