Hi All

Before you start labelling me as a 'snake oil sales person', or a 'book

sales person' I am NOT!

When I purchased my PC, it came with a manual, not that I have read it, but

it is here in my desk draw.

When I purchased my car, it came with a manual, at least I read that!

When I was born, I did not come with a manual, according to Mom I am on my

own.

When I succumbed to arthritis, that did not come will a manual either!

Over the years I have purchased and digested many publication on arthritis.

I now have a manual, which is an American Publication! Dava Sobel and Arthur

C Klein embarked on a arthritis survey, sending questionnaire out to some

one thousand arthritis patients. They received these forms back and compiled

a book, " Arthritis What Really Works " ISBN 1-85487-290-7.

This book includes just about everything, including a 30- Day meal planner,

experimental treatments, alternative therapies and self help techniques. 477

pages in all! Whatever you want to know about junk food, fish oil, EPO, Tens

machines, MTX, acupuncture, physiotherapy, drugs, is in this book and is my

Manual!

I admit, food like Raisin Toast, English muffin pizza and Zucchini are all

new to me, but the basic diet I can handle.

Talking about diets, or lifestyle changes, I wish to make a suggestion. If

you start on a meat free, low fat diet, you are going to struggle at first.

The way I did it? Well for six days I stuck to my ridged diet, no deviation.

Then on the seventh day, I had a treat meal, for being a good gal. I allowed

myself to eat a Big Mac, Pizza, Bacon and Eggs, and my real favourite,

Smoked Haddock cooked in a pint of full cream! All really bad for the

cholesterol, but having these optional treat meals worked for me.

Now having got into the habit, well I only seem to have these treat meals,

once in three months! However when I do have them, boy do I really enjoy

them.

Lifestyle changes have to be looked at with a positive state of mind. Just

like when we were kids, [i agree I still am] If I was good, Mom would give

me a treat and if I was bad, I went to my room, grounded. Of course I always

wanted to be good! I have just taken that indoctrination one step further,

if I am good by sticking to my diet, I treat myself!

Love and God Bless

Gillian
