This is great! I love when the kids aquire a new skill...especially one

that was worked on so hard.

Have you ever seen the Bubble Bear? It is a great little thing that I once

got from a therapy catalog, but have seen it other places too. It is a

bottle of bubbles shaped like a bear, and you squeeze his belly and the

bubble wand comes up and you can blow the bubbles. It is nice because you

don't have to dip your fingers in, and the squeezing action is a good fine

motor activity. Ours finally bit the dust after much use, but I always used

to have that thing with me. Entertained many a kid...some not my own!

We got a bubble bear at FAO Schwartz in NYC a few years back.....and we just

got a really cool bubble elephant at the Bronx Zoo today - you dip in the

wand, and then have to squeeze his tummy - the elephant blows the bubbles

with his trunk! Very, very cute - and a great hand exercise.

We just LOOOOOVE coming to visit our aunt and uncle in NYC!

And Caty has a bunny one, that I found on an Easter display at a department

store. (I bought a couple, because they are hard to find) When she was

little, Toys R us carried them.

When I was a kid we used soapy water, don't remember the combination.

But blows bubbles for the cat, and we got a humongous bottle of

bubble stuff at Wal-Mart awhile back for not a lot. I pour it into a smaller

bottle. This was at a Walmart Super Store. Jessie

Hi leis

This is a bubble mix we got from Sheridans kindy its very good , Sheridan is

into bubbles big time at the moment

2 cups dishwashing liquid

6 cups water

1/4 cup glycerine

combine shake and let settle

use either Morning fresh (or Palmolive for 2nd choice ) bubbles are better

its important to use the glycerine as it makes the bubbles last longer and

bigger .

the older the mixture the better it works (ours never lasts long )

keep the mixture in the fridge as cold bubbles work best

works well in a tray with a bubble wand

hope this helps

We blow bubbles inside all winter, and on rainy days. I let them sit at

their plastic play table, in the kitchen, and I mop the floor while they do

it. Kills two birds with one stone. We also blow them in the living room.

Since we clean the carpets pretty regularly anyway, I don't think it hurts

anything at all...Beth

Can I add it now? I didn't strain it last time. I keep forgetting or when I

remember, like a few minutes ago I was at store but couldn't find a strainer.

So anyway, I still have sludge from last batch, can I add it now?

Patty,

If your yeast sludge still has some fermented liquid with it it should

be o.k. and you could still add it as an 'after-thought'.

If it has dried up, however, and has been sitting for some time I shouldn't

use it because it might have been contaminated by airborne bacteria.

Straining at this point is not important. I only strain the finished

product with a simple fine-meshed tea strainer before I fill it into

bottles.

There is no need to worry, Patty. Fizz does not mean that your brew

is healthier, it just means that more CO2 is active in the liquid (by

product of the yeast side of the fermentation itself)

If fizz is important to your palate, mix the still KT with some

fizzy bottled spring water. I do that for my hubby all the time.

Hope you're getting on fine.

Margret:-)

Ok, yes, the sludge is still in the last of the last batch and I did go ahead

and add it. I think I am going to pull it today as I do believe it is ready to

go. Bubbles aren't that important to me one way or another, I am just afraid I

am not doing things correctly. Anyway, if it isn't that important, I wont worry

about it. I am going through about a gallon a week just on me. Oh my how

selfish. I want to start doing more at a time and start to include the animals

also. I am not so sure that I can feel or see a difference with me esp as I

appear to be coming down with a head cold. Overall, I seem to be doing pretty

well. A week after my first chemo treatment, the primary cancer site was

reduced by 1 cm. That has to be good. My hair is currently falling out which

is quite upsetting but oh well. A very nice lady has loaned me her very nice

wig so probably in the next few days I will be having my head shaved and start

wearing that

I am sorry if I ask redundant questions. I am on several e mail lists and I

just am not able to keep up with all the posts.

I sure do thank you who are willing to answer questions!

That's o.k. then, Patty.

Are you brewing with GREEN tea?

This would be the best one against your condition.

Do you drink enough clear water and not just the KT?

Water is so important for flushing the toxins out of your body

after the Kombucha has grabbed them.

If you have problems with the water (I do!) I down a glassful (cold

or hot) and then reward myself with a glass of Kombucha to follow.

If plain water is too terrible to consider ;-) you could mix a bit

of fruit juice in with it or fruit tea... anything non-diuretic.

> I am just afraid I am not doing things correctly.

Any particular questions there?

As long as you follow your chosen recipe of

making proper tea (green) with white sugar,

letting it cool to almost cold before adding culture and starter,

and using a generous amount of starter with a goodly amount of

yeast sludge ...

Leave your brew sufficiently long to ferment until there is a good

acidity (my last one needed 10 days!)

> I am not so sure that I can feel or see a difference with me esp as I appear

to be coming down with a head cold.

With cancer your immune system is already overworked, so your body will

be going clappers to deal with those cold germs as well.

Keep drinking as much Kombucha and water as you can tolerate.

> Overall, I seem to be doing pretty well. A week after my first chemo

treatment, the primary cancer site was reduced by 1 cm. That has to be good.

Wonderful.

> I am sorry if I ask redundant questions...

Dear Patty, there are no redundant questions.

Just ask them when they are coming up. That's what the list

is there for: to support one another without feeling pressurised.

BTW, are you getting into a routine of brewing Kombucha, that you have

always some on the go? When first starting brewing, this takes a bit

of patience... getting just to the right amount of KT that will eventually

serve both you and your animals.

Take care and allow yourself lots of rest, and of course Kombucha Tonic.

kombuchaly with friendly greetings,

Margret:-)

Thanks so much. I am sortive depressed right now. My hair is falling out in

clumps!:>(( I know that there are worse things and etc but I have always had

good hair that was thick and it makes me realize that there really is something

wrong! Dang, I just hate this whole thing!

I drink about a half gallon of water a day. I freeze it and take it with me as

I prefer it cold.

I think I am doing thing right. I will go and buy another gallon of pickles,

which I don't like but I have a friend that I will droop those off to and her

kids will eat them right down. Then I can have 2 gallons brewing. Now I have

to do something re storage. I have been looking for a siphon (I know that is

not the right worked, what do I want to say?) Anyway, that is the next big

challenge and then to start to taking some with me to work and etc. I really do

like the taste.

Thanks for the help. It is nice to able to ask when the situation comes up for

me.

yeast sludge ...

Leave your brew sufficiently long to ferment until there is a good

acidity (my last one needed 10 days!)

> I am not so sure that I can feel or see a difference with me esp as I

appear to be coming down with a head cold.

Margret:-)
