You can get her into Speech therapy and social skill groups to work on

social skills and pragmatic language. I think the gap doesn't become

larger but it's there and probably more noticeable because older kids

are less forgiving. And so are people in general - you'd accept

behavior from a little toddler but not from a 12 yo, for instance. So

in that sense, the problems do get worse in that they become more

noticeable.

( ) Questions about what's to come...

My dd is 5, and is in the process of being evaluated for AS. Until now

we thought she was just " quirky " or " sensitive, " but this past year ehr

delayed social skills have been really noticeable. Can anyone help me

understand what's to come? Does the gap between her social developmjent

and that of her peers become even more pronounced as they get older?

What kind of social help can I get for ehr? Many thanks, this is a

confusing time for us and I feel overwhelmed...

I agree with you Roxanna. Caitlin's meltdowns are better, but her peer interactions are much worse. On Apr 14, 2010, at 6:51 AM, Roxanna wrote:

“Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” - Steve Jobs
