, I am probably one of those folks who will tell you mostly good things. I

started taking mtx about 6 years ago. I had no side effects whatsoever with it.

It caused my pa and p to be virtually non-existent. I had my blood tests every

4 weeks and nothing out of the ordinary ever showed up. In the last going off I

was taking 12.5 mg orally once a week along with the daily 2.5mg folic acid. I

stopped taking it cold turkey in early December as I began ovulating again after

being anovulatory for about 10 years. My husband and I did not want to take any

chances of me getting pregnant while on that drug so I stopped the mtx, just

like that. It has been almost three months now and this past few weeks I am

expereincing discomfort and pain and also my psoriasis is on the rise again. I

live in Canada but am in Ireland for a couple months. My rheumy gave me enough

prednisone to last me for that time and even though I had reported to the group

that I would be taking it afterall, I am still having second thoughts. So, what

more can I tell you other than mtx was like fantastic drug for me. It got me

out of my bed 6 years ago when I could not move and it took away the horrible

pain I had been suffering with for some months before that time. It gave me

back my life, really, when I thought that I was destined to remain crippled and

immobile. It is not a drug for everyone. Most people I know have terrible side

effects from it. I was one of the lucky ones. I have no idea what will happen

to me this point on. I suspect that when I get back to Canada I may go back on

the mtx....who knows? I hope you get more responses and perhaps some more

positive stories.

Janet
