Also, if a 'new thing' and the child is drinking and thirsty a lot, that IS a sign of DIABETES. It CAN AND DOES HAPPEN to

anyone and without a reason OR due to illness / some ethnic backgrounds are at high risk / unknown reasons for Type 1 diabetes (child OFTEN is

a very 'thin' person, and it just comes as a total shock---or that was OUR experience with our now 16 year old whom is on the spectrum but was diagnosed with

Type 1 diabetes when he was 8 years old). Diabetes, type 2 often happens because of obesity (namely), and is rising and happening in our youth since we've become a less

active, video game, etc. society.

OUR SON was wetting within 15-30 minutes of going to bed and after 2 nights, greeted me in the morning telling me what a creep, loser, etc. he was and I KNEW WE HAD A

PROBLEM OTHER THAN JUST WETTING THE BED / it was something he 100 percent had no control over. I called the doctor, had an appointment, and caught it before he was very

sick (if one has this for a while / on-going / can actually lead to death and the child will be very, very ill and in what is called ketoacidocis)--his blood sugar was only in the 300's (a lot of

those children diagnosed are around 800-1000 and VERY VERY ILL). IT NEVER HURTS TO CHECK. NORMAL BLOOD SUGAR SHOULD BE 80-120 (ever above 121 per American Diabetes Association standards / most diabetic educators---not doctor's standards for diagnosing) YOU ARE DIABETIC! So, just something to keep in mind.

[Attachment(s) from casatelk@... included below] I am new here and happy that possily I can add some info to help.....................I started giving my child her multi-vit. in the morning instead of at night and as long as I watch the fluid intake at night (only a sip of water for the two hours prior to bed time) and make sure she goes to the bathroom twice after dinner -- no problems. good luck! AM Please respond to @ I am a parent of an Aspie, so that is why I get these posts. But thought it might make you feel better to know - I am a 42 yr old NT female, I wet the bed til I was 12 yrs old. Then, one day, I just stopped. I remember waking up one night to go to the bathroom and I was surprised. Every once in awhile, I still did it after that, but it became rarer and rarer. The dr told my mom back-then that I would outgrow it and that is exactly what happened. Also, my youngest son had a NT friend, also who wet the bed til he was about 11 years old and again, he just stopped. I know of others as well, but what I am trying to say is that bed-wetting happens across the board, among neurotypical kids and aspies alike and they all, (about 99%) outgrow it. Good luck. Dana ----- Re: ( ) Bed wetting 2-3 times a night..... I want to thank everyone who posted ! I should have stated that my son is 9 1/2 years old. Reading everyone's responses was a huge help and I realized I am not alone in this struggle of bed wetting. I HAVE bought my son goodnights and it took him a couple of days to get used to them but now he is in a routine when it's time for bed he will put them on with no problems. He says they are uncomfortable but he likes the fact that he doesn't wake up soaking wet. On the positive side he has gone a couple times without wetting his goodnight!!! I should of done this sooner! I think he feels better too. Thanks everyone!
