Guest guest
Has anyone had any success with these products on AS children. I have a 7 year old boy who is continually humming or signing repeatitive bits of music, like the opening of Star Wars, etc. He also does this in class, which is a big problem, and at home it grates our nerves. I appreciate any advise or info. Thanks
Guest guest
Hi: My 4.5 yo son is going through the therapeutic listening program (TLP), as we speak. He's actually listening to the EASe CD this past week. I don't know if it helps stop humming or singing, but it definitely has helped with a # of other things, such as language increase, calmer, stopped whining as much, more willing to try to new things, increased peer imitation skills. We are very happy with the progress with our son. We're doing it through an OT. You should talk with one that does this and see if TLP would be good for your son. Good luck, mary > > Has anyone had any success with these products on AS children. Guest guest
We tried it and did it for about a year, switched OTs , then did it for another year, but now are not doig it anymore. It did help with focus and attention span but he did not really like it - he definitely was less sensitive to sound after the repeated use, and that has lasted- prior he use to cover heis ears a lot of the time and even just normal speaking voices would upset him a lot and send him into humming and clicking. He was more able to focus after doing the program but it seemed more short lived, so it had to be done twice a day for half an hour which was hard since he did not really like it. At this point I still have the equipment but we are not using it at the moment. The OT said it would help him to retrain his brain to connect with others better - some are of the CDs are supposedly for this. I am not sure if this is true, and would not from my perspective te those gains into the audio stuff, but it is possible it helped. He has a lot fo other therapies that I found seemed to help this more, but it could have been they worked in conjunction. We did not go the scientific route of trying one, then the other. I figured it would waste too much time since he was so late in getting diagnosed, I did not want to risk missing a therapy that might of helped if done in his early years, so we have been doing a bunch of different things simulataneuosly, with great results, but hard to tell which has had the most effect on these changes since we did not do them each on their own.
