, if the choices are taking something or watching your body

deteriorate until it reaches osteoporosis, heart problemas, and

eventually coma and death, the decision is an easy one.

disappeared as soon as I quit the Synthroid. I'll keep all of that in mind

though. Thanks for your input(:

Becky,

Many patients do not take any supplements in the first weeks after

surgery.

Supplements are used to compensate for nutrients you are not getting

in, either because you are eating too little or because the food

you are eating lacks nutrition or like in the case of the bypass

your body is not absorbing the nutrients from the food. If we all

ate accordingly ( the 9 serving of fruits and vegetables, from foods

rich in nutrients) we would not need supplements.

I find that even if I wanted to I do not have time to think about

all the nutrition I need, or my kids, which made me feel very

guilty. I have read that, many of the fruit and vegetables we do

eat lack nutrients because of the soil it is grown in, or pesticides

used, etc. (this is a long subject all on its own! )

With weight loss surgery it is difficult to get all the vitamins

and minerals your body needs eating such small amounts of food.

This is why taking vitmins and minerals is recommended, whether you

get them capsuls, multivitamins, shakes, etc. Some patients feel Ok

without taking any but in the long run when they do blood work many

find they are a little low on this a little low on that. Some

patients know they need them right from the start.

Sorry this got so long, this is a subject I love and read as much as

I can about :)

I have some in my cabinet now! Although I do like JP, I found a

Garden of life product better. It is called Super Seed. I also like

the womens daily vitamin. www.gardenoflife.com or

www.biblicalhealthinstitute.com

Has anyone used any of the Juice Plus supplements?

A well meaning neighbor is trying to get me interested.

I'm concerned about phenols/oxalates etc.

Thanks,

Missy

Havent tried it, but there are definately some high oxalate veggies on the list

(spinach, beets, carrots). Some people on the Low Oxalate group have reported

problems with it, but there are also a few that havent seen any issues.

Hi Jane,

I take Juice Plus, and can get it for you to try. Are you interested in the

capsules or chew able gummies? You can email me at samsmom6602 .

I can get you a 1 month or 2 month supply.

Thanks.

Juice Plus

Is there anyone in this group who is a distributor for Juice Plus? I would

be interested in trying it, but I don't want to order a 4 month supply from

Juiceplus.com with an automatic redelivery in 4 months. I just want to try it.

Jane
