Guest guest
Hello My name is VIcki and I am the mother of 2 daughters...my oldest who is 13 and who is 11. Sara has been diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome, ADD, OCD and anxiety disorder since 2nd grade. She is now 11 and and I took her to see a new psychologist recently because she kept telling me that she needs help controlling her brain and her OCD. This new psychologist says that she is hard to "pigeon hole" because she has a few symptoms of a few different disorders but Aspergers is what he see...although a very mild case she does fit the description. As far as medications she is only on Zoloft 100 mg and that is because her anxiety and OCD skyrocketed last year when she entered the 5ht grade at a new school and it was HORRIBLE. The teachers were horrible and they refused to give her an IEP. She had a 504 that they complained was too long and they didn't follow it half the time. She was punished for being disrespectful when she would ask the teacher questions like "how does this apply to my life?" and she wasn't being disrespectful, she really wanted to know...she asks me this all the time. But this year she is going to a private school where she will be in a class with 5 other children and 1 other girls. I was all excited about the smaller class size but bow with this new diagnosis I am worried that she won't fit in. In a class of 32 at the public school she found friends but the odds were higher so now I am worried that I did the wrong thing. I guess I am just looking for support and ideas. Our insurance doesn't pay for a lot of therapy so I need to learn what I can so I can continue to work with her at home. I am interested in the abilify because her zoloft was 25 mg at the beginning of the 5ht grade then it was up to 100 mg afterward and she still has her mood swings an outbursts but she cannot take any more zoloft and I am concerned that she may be taking too much. Anyway...any information that can be shared I would love to hear..... Thanks in advance for any help, information or resources!!
