Bek,

Your doctor is worried about the sugar in the fruit. Use Granny apples, which have the lowest amount of sugar. You can also have some berries in smoothies such as blueberries (which are extremely high in antioxidants). Another fruit smoothie you can make is cucumbers, limes, and add a bunch of greens such as spinach, kale, etc. Use a few drops of stevia to sweeten. Stevia won’t feed candida. I have been treating my autistic-spectrum son for candida and also worry about fruit. Sergei adamantly states that it is okay to have fruit in these green smoothies, which are loaded with greens. Purchase dandelion greens at the store. Check out or buy the Boutenko’s book “Greens for Lifeâ€.

Carrots are high in sugar. If you juice carrots, use only 1/3 carrot juice and then the rest of your glass of juice should be the same greens you throw in the smoothies. Drink only 8 ounces of juice several times a day on an empty stomach and avoid eating for an hour or so. Sergie also recommends throwing the green tops of carrots and turnips in the smoothies or juicing. They have way more vitamins than the carrots and turnips. I wouldn’t do any dairy for awhile. Eat all raw and drink green smoothies and green juice. Start out using granny smith apples, berries (raspberries, blueberries, and cranberries), and cucumber. I make about 3 different smoothies I drink on a daily basis and rotate the greens. One is about 3 granny smith apples, a cup of both raspberries and blueberries, and greens. Use an entire bunch of greens in your smoothie. I know

you are not used to consuming an entire bunch of parsley you buy at the store or 6 kale leaves or collard greens. But DO! Add some coconut oil to it and some stevia and blend. I always stir in freshly-ground flax seed to finished smoothies. I keep a coffee grinder on counter just for grinding flax seed. Also add coconut oil to herbal tea and drink it to gain fat. If you eat any nuts, soak them first for at least 6 hours and eat them raw. I have several raw nut recipes that I really like and I think you will too if you are interested. When I did 100% raw, I saved the nuts for the dinner meal. Drink huge glasses of green smoothie throughout the day. My kids’ favorite is 3 bananas in the blender with some water and an entire bag of spinach (or parsley, celery,etc.). Bananas are pretty high in sugar, so you might want to hold off for awhile.

Go to her website, most of the content of the book is there:

http://www.gapsdiet.com/

And try your local library - I didn't buy the book, I borrowed it from the

library and scanned a few pages to keep.
