Guest guest
We've just started chelating our son with oral DMSA. He is 3.9 yrs old and 33 lbs. The first week, we did 8mg every 4 hours for 3 days and had 4 days off. But the second day into the second week of chelation, he was kind of whiny and seemed uncomfortable so we stopped. Now, I want to start again, and I am going to reduce the dose to 5 mg per every 4 hours. Since the dose is so low, I am thinking of taking 4 days off again. My question is whether 4 days off or 11 days off is " better " . I understand it depends on the child's tolerance, but my son is non verbal, and has weird behaviors, so it's hard to tell if he is experiencing discomfort. If we do a 3 on 4 off schedule, would the chelation be " faster " in the sense that he would respond quicker, or is 3 on 11 off better to let his body rest a bit. However, I'm concerned that with 11 days off, the metals will get redistributed and cause issues, whereas with 4 days off, the metals wouldn't have too much time to redistribute before the chelator is working again. Any opinions or experience with the dosing schedules would be appreciated. Thank you.
