Guest guest
I am new to this list. Has anyone seen improvements in Tourettes Syndrome using a chelation approach?
Guest guest
Thank you Nicoline, I have read that 12yrs old is the peak time for worseing of symptoms with Tourettes. Also seen that some studies are linking it with Strep. I am in the UK and the policy here seems to be not to add any dx to an existing Autism dx, unless the child is very high functioning. My son goes through the whole body jerking and his symptoms have become very distinct from his autism. The barking has become really frequent with 10 minutes solid several times a day. We are on a supplement break at the moment so this could also be contributing, previously found taurine to be helpful with the body jerks. I was giving him mag oxide as he doesn't seem to tolerate any other form. Maybe today I will put him back on his old supp schedule and see if it helps. Thing is because no one is aware that he has Tourettes everyone, especially school has been removing him from favoured activities thinking the barking was distress rather than a trigger caused by excitement, this in turn would result in full rage cycle as he could not, being non verbal explain he couldn't help the barking. Guest guest
Hi Vicky, My son (also 12 years old now) started to heave tics when he was 5 years old. Especially in the spring his tics are really disturbing; I think that his immunesysteem is overburdened those months. (He is allergic for almost all pollens, and only in springtime he suffers from astma) What helps him is raising the zinc (but only zincpicolinate seems to work) and no gluten. One spring we did the SCD diet, and it really worked well. But my son is not motivated for diets anymore, and since we disvovered Houston Enzymes, he can eat olmost everything without worsening of tics. It seems that some kids benefir from extra magnesium. My son needs magnesium malate, another kind does not work. Tics are very often caused by allergies. Nicoline > > Anyone have a child dx or show very strong symptoms of Tourettes? > My son has shown signs of Tourettes since about 6yrs old but is now driven mad with barking and ticcing, he is 12 yrs old. > TIA > Vicky >
Guest guest
Hi Vicky, Magnesiumoxide is a form that the body can hardly absorb (is that the correct word? I am Dutch you see, but I hope you understand what I mean) Magnesiumoxide is good to stimulate stools, but beside that it doesn't do much.. Could his tics be caused by candida? When the yeast is really bad, it worstens the tics of my son. I think with my son, there are usually more than one cause that triggers the tics. It's a real puzzle sometimes.. Guest guest
Hi , Have you started chelating yet? Tics are mercury (thimerosal) related and even the CDC's own studies confirm it (as though they were nothing to worry about!). My son's tics went away with chelation and at times during chelation they would reappear momentarily and I knew it was just the metals coming out that was causing it. After several rounds of ALA (22-25?), the tics never reappeared. Liz > > This is something I have been wondering about with my daughter. She is basically recovered except for the " flapping " which is accompanied by her whole body tensing. Her OCD stuff was helped with OLe and I just started her again. It just seemed to me that this movement or tic by itself seems more of a Tourettes thing now. My son also makes strange " skier " type movements with yelling when he is excited. I was wondering how connected autism and tourettes were. > > ~ >
Guest guest
Could you please tell me how you dose this....are you using the same formula to figure it out as regular?? I was reading about it and it seems better absorbed..so was wondering.. I, too, have a kiddo with lots and lots of tics. So very interested. Guest guest
I am going to start chelating my daughter this coming weekend. It will be round 10 for my son. I started with only him because I wasn't sure what to expect and he is on the more severe end of the spectrum. We are seeing wonderful gains with my son but part of me was still worried about starting my daughter on chelation. But her tics are very noticable--people tend to give her funny looks--so I know we need to address this now. I thought the comments on allergies making them worse was true for her. My allergies have been horrible and I have noticed her tics more lately. Do you have links t0 the CDC info on tics? I would love to see what they have to say! ~ > > Hi , > > Have you started chelating yet?
