Guest guest
My son has been taking a broad spectrum product - Digest with proteases. As I understand it, the proteases can help with bacteria. Is that right? I've cut down his sugar in the past two weeks (while increasing the protease) and that seemed to help with afternoon meltdown/tantrum thing. I thought I was on to something- should have known it wasn't that simple. However, he was also going back to a bowel movement every other day (it had improved to every day before this). The problem is that in the last couple of days his behavior has taken a turn for the worse - impulsive, negative (three time outs for aggression while at preschool yesterday). He also has woken up for an hour or two for two of the last three nights. We haven't had that since before we removed the gluten. I decided to start GSE as of last night. The red area around the anus (which is back as of a couple of days ago) is now very bright red. His face also looks a tad bit bumpy and blotchy (not really a rash though). How do I know if it is bacteria or yeast? Do I just keep the dosage up on the protease product and continue with the GSE for now and see what happens? He seems to be more impulsive/oppositional today. I am waiting on No-Fenol and Culturelle to begin using also. This all seems confusing because I've read a lot about the yeast and bacteria posts here and it sounds like you can have the same symptoms for both. My son has a history of ear infections/antibiotics, constipation, and is now GF because of a high Celiac blood marker. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Debbie
Guest guest
- Can you tell me what kind of testing you had? Are you talking about Great Plans Lab? My insurance is BCBS and covers their testing. My ped isn't thrilled with the idea but I would like to do it. I was looking at the site wondering what all I should test for and where to start. For sure the hair! Can any one give me an idea of what all to test? I've got the aggression and opposition, just a plane difficult child and I'm so worn out some days. Thanks Tammy Re: yeast or bacteria? I can soooo relate to this problem. It is so hard to tell the difference. We managed to figure out the difference by accident. My son had constant sinus infections and they would get so bad that we would breakdown and put him on antibiotics. Every time he was on antibiotics, his aggression stopped. It would return a few days after going off antibiotics. This helped us figure out that it was some sort of bacteria problem. We finally invested in the testing to GPL and found it to be Clostridia. We have also been dealing with the red ring around the anus and tests showed high markers for yeast. At any rate, for us, it turned out that bacteria is the cause of aggression and yeast is the cause of opposition and PDD symptoms. When we have them both under control, my son is fully recovered!! Keeping them under control is the trick that we only manage about 90% of the time. Not sure if this was any help, but I can truly relate. Mommy to 4 yrs pdd-nos/asd/Asperger's Traits (almost fully recovered) and 8 months (so far so good!) Guest guest
Please this is our problem.? for the brief periods we keep it at bay, he is about 90% recovered, but it conitnues to creep back in.? What has worked for you??? He had dietomoeba fragalis, then Klebsiella and along with continued yeast. Thanks, Louise I can soooo relate to this problem. It is so hard to tell the difference. If you eliminate all the bacteria, then yeast can start increasing. And yeast does tend to be constipating. He might not tolerate the GSE, do you give it with No-Fenol? You might want to add Candidase or another yeast-digesting enzyme along with the protease, to even out the bacteria/yeast possibility. > This all seems confusing because I've read a lot about the yeast and > bacteria posts here and it sounds like you can have the same symptoms > for both. Yes, some of them are very different, but others are very much the same. >> My son has a history of ear infections/antibiotics, > constipation, These are typically yeast. Many kids lose this problem after chelation. My son also required anti-virals and certain supplements before it was eliminated entirely. Guest guest
He is chelating and on various supplements. Did your son need prescription antivirals. W are on Diflucan, OLE and virastop. For the time being he is doing very well. I just do not know what will happen when we stop. WE are doing the stair step approach with virastop. Guest guest
We tried all the supplements (probiotics, GSE, OLE ,virastop, etc.) and nothing worked for us. We had been GFCFSF for a while and had great success in many areas with that, but still the persistent yeast and bacteria. The only thing that has given us any amount of constant relief has been a total diet change. We started eliminating all yeast feeders, then about two weeks ago, we switched to SCD diet and that has been our miracle for getting rid of bacteria and giving us a good start on the yeast. I am always scared it will come back, but I will say that recently I have been enjoying playgrounds, b-day parties, etc. a lot more b/c my son is FINALLY not hitting everyone! Vitamin C, lysine, OLE, and Virastop enzyme. >>I just do not know what will happen when we stop. WE are doing the stair step approach with virastop. When I stopped the OLE and Virastop, my son " appeared " recovered, but the next cold virus that he caught, went straight into his brain. It was at that point that I realized that vitamin C is what prevents viruses from entering the brain. I later found out lysine is required for that also. Guest guest
HI, I am prone to sinus infection. I read an article about GSE helping sinus issues. SO I started taking 125 mg of GSE. Now I have red blotches on my cheek. My foot also has some problems. Do you think I am allergic to GSE or it it yeast die off? thank you, Anandhi --- danasview <danasview@...> wrote: > > > > > My son has been taking a broad spectrum product - > Digest with > > proteases.
