Guest guest
Hi, I mostly lurk here but I have a question maybe Dana or someone else can help me with. I think my son might be having an allergic reaction to enzyme. I've been giving him son enzymes for viral reasons. He won't take the Virastop because of the taste so we've been giving him Kirmans Enzyme Complete (because it contains protease enzymes). He responded really well at first but a week after we increased his dose to 7 per day he got a fever and a horribly itchy rash all over. I thought it was unrelated to the enzymes because I haven't heard of getting a fever from enzymes. The fever dissapeared after several days but the rash continued for over a week. The poor kid was contantly doped up on benadryl, which did seem to help. He also stopped drinking during all this and we had to force liquid down him each day. We finally completely stopped the enzymes (after this had been going on for a week) and he started getting better. We tried to start back on 2 enzymes/day yesterday and now my son is itchy, has a low grade fever, a cough and a runny nose. Can this be an allergic reaction to the enzyme? Thanks for any help.
